Hyderabad, September 12, 2025 – Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, delivered a powerful address at the Cyber Cop 2025 Awards Ceremony, urging for collective action and the development of indigenous solutions to counter the escalating wave of cyber threats facing India. The event, held at the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) in Ramantapur, Hyderabad, on Thursday, celebrated the contributions of young innovators and law enforcement professionals in the field of cybersecurity.
The ceremony was a collaborative effort, jointly organized by the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), and ISB Hyderabad. Minister Sanjay Kumar highlighted the critical juncture the nation finds itself in, stating, “The country is undergoing a digital revolution, and with it, cyber threats are growing rapidly. We must find Indian solutions to global problems.”
During his address, the Minister underscored that cybersecurity has become a core component of national security, emphasizing that no single entity can tackle these complex challenges alone. He called for a unified approach, stressing the importance of scalable and innovative solutions.
Sanjay Kumar particularly praised hackathons, such as the one associated with the Cyber Cop 2025 awards, as vital platforms that bring together startups, students, and professionals. These collaborations are crucial for developing tools and strategies to protect citizens, institutions, and the national economy from various cyber dangers.
The Minister detailed several pressing cyber threats, including the misuse of cryptocurrency transactions, the proliferation of deepfake content, the rise of fake websites, and the spread of malicious mobile applications. He highlighted ongoing governmental efforts to track virtual digital assets and combat these emerging challenges.
In a significant call to action, Bandi Sanjay Kumar advocated for the strategic deployment of advanced technologies to bolster India’s digital defenses. He specifically mentioned the need to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Blockchain analytics to strengthen cybersecurity measures.
Addressing the specific threat of deepfakes, the Minister noted that CERT-In has already issued comprehensive guidelines covering watermarking, content moderation, and rapid detection mechanisms. Furthermore, he pointed out that National Cyber Forensic Labs and the Cyber Hygiene Centre are actively equipping law enforcement agencies with cutting-edge tools and training to effectively combat cybercrime.
Minister Sanjay Kumar also referenced broader central government initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, such as the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), which are designed to enhance the country’s cyber resilience. He concluded by congratulating all participating agencies and innovators, affirming, “Together, we are not just fighting cyber threats—we are building a safe and powerful India.”
