Space42 Honored with Dual Wins at Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2025 for Autonomous Mobility and AI Satellite Innovation

TLDR: Space42, a leading UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, has secured two prestigious accolades at the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2025. The company was recognized in the ‘Smart City – Transportation’ category for its autonomous mobility platform, TXAI, and in the ‘AI – Satellite’ category for its next-generation communications satellite, Thuraya-4. These awards highlight Space42’s significant contributions to advanced technology and smart infrastructure in the region.

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Space42, the pioneering UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, has achieved remarkable success at the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2025, clinching victories in two highly competitive categories: ‘Smart City – Transportation’ and ‘AI – Satellite’. The awards, presented by Asian Business Review Magazine, celebrate the outstanding achievements of both local and international firms that are actively shaping the technological landscape of the Middle East through innovation, strategic growth, and contributions to economic and community development.

Space42’s win in the ‘Smart City – Transportation’ category was attributed to TXAI, the UAE’s groundbreaking large-scale autonomous mobility platform. TXAI is at the forefront of deploying autonomous taxis and Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) vehicles for public service across the Emirates. The entire ecosystem of TXAI is meticulously managed by Space42’s centralized Smart Mobility Operation Centre located at Yas Depot, with seamless access to services such as route planning, ride booking, live tracking, and EV charging facilitated through the intuitive TXAI Super App. Demonstrating its robust reliability and safety, TXAI has successfully logged over 450,000 kilometers of autonomous driving without any major safety incidents, establishing a national benchmark for ART governance.

The ‘AI – Satellite’ award recognized Space42’s innovative Thuraya-4, a next-generation communications satellite. Described by the company as ‘more than a satellite; it is a platform for transformation, built for the future,’ Thuraya-4 represents a significant leap in satellite communications. This advanced satellite delivers intelligent, secure, and low-latency connectivity, particularly in areas where terrestrial networks are insufficient. It operates as a software-defined, artificial intelligence (AI)-integrated platform, specifically designed to enable and empower edge-based decision-making across diverse environments including land, sea, and air. Built on the robust Airbus Eurostar Neo platform, Thuraya-4 integrates powerful onboard processing with a fully software-defined architecture, allowing for real-time beam steering, adaptive modulation, and dynamic carrier aggregation.

Space42 itself is a formidable entity, formed in 2024 through the strategic merger of Bayanat and Yahsat. This consolidation created an AI-powered space technology champion with a global footprint, seamlessly integrating multi-orbit satellite communications, AI-driven geospatial intelligence, and secure connectivity. The company’s mission is to ‘enlighten the world from space’ through its innovative solutions. Space42 operates through two key business units: Yahsat Space Services, which focuses on upstream satellite operations for both fixed and mobility satellite services, and Bayanat Smart Solutions, which leverages AI to integrate geospatial data acquisition and processing for enhanced decision-making, situational awareness, and operational efficiency. Major shareholders include G42, Mubadala, and IHC.
