Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence company, announced on Friday its ambitious plans to triple its international workforce and expand its applied artificial intelligence team by fivefold this year. This strategic move is a direct response to the escalating global demand for its advanced Claude AI models, which has seen significant growth beyond the United States.
The company highlighted that nearly 80 percent of consumer usage for its Claude AI models comes from outside the United States. Notably, per-person usage in countries such as South Korea, Australia, and Singapore has outpaced that of America, underscoring the strong international adoption.
Anthropic, currently valued at an impressive $183 billion, is backed by tech giants Google-parent Alphabet and Amazon.com. The company has carved out a distinct niche in the competitive AI landscape by developing AI models that demonstrate exceptional capabilities in coding.
This focus on specialized AI has fueled remarkable growth in its global business customer base, which has surged from under 1,000 to more than 300,000 within just two years. The financial performance reflects this expansion, with the company’s run-rate revenue reaching over $5 billion by August, a substantial increase from approximately $1 billion at the beginning of the year.
To support its global ambitions, Anthropic intends to hire for more than 100 new positions across key European cities including Dublin, London, and Zurich. Furthermore, the company plans to establish its first Asian office in Tokyo, alongside additional office locations across Europe.
