TLDR: Santa Barbara-based ChipAgents.ai has successfully raised $21 million in Series A funding, bringing its total capital to $24 million. The investment, led by Bessemer Venture Partners with strategic support from major semiconductor firms, will fuel the growth of its agentic artificial intelligence platform designed to revolutionize chip design and verification by automating complex tasks and accelerating time to market.
Santa Barbara, CA – ChipAgents.ai, a pioneering company in the field of artificial intelligence for semiconductor development, today announced it has closed an oversubscribed Series A funding round, securing $21 million. This latest investment elevates the company’s total funding to $24 million, underscoring strong investor confidence in its innovative agentic AI platform for chip design and verification.
The Series A round was spearheaded by Bessemer Venture Partners, a prominent venture capital firm. Strategic backing also came from industry giants including Micron Technology Inc., MediaTek Inc., and Ericsson, alongside other leading semiconductor companies. Existing investors ScOp Venture Capital and Amino Capital also participated, further solidifying the company’s financial foundation.
Founded in 2024, ChipAgents.ai is addressing the escalating complexity within the semiconductor industry. Professor William Wang, founder and chief executive of ChipAgents, highlighted the challenge: “Chips became so complex that it used to be millions of logic gates, and right now it’s billions, or tens of billions, even trillions of logic gates. So, when you have to design complexity at this particular level, nobody understands the code anymore.” This exponential growth in complexity has rendered traditional design tools and manual processes increasingly inefficient.
ChipAgents’ agentic AI platform is engineered to automate routine and intricate design and verification tasks, thereby freeing engineers to concentrate on innovation rather than tedious, line-by-line coding. The platform operates at the front end of the chip design process, from the initial stages of defining chip specifications, which often result in hundreds of pages of documentation.
According to Wang, the generative AI capabilities of ChipAgents enable design, architecture, and verification teams to streamline workflows and significantly reduce time to market. A critical application of the platform is in verification, a phase where errors can be exceptionally costly – potentially millions of dollars – unlike software bugs that can be fixed post-release. The platform aims for near-perfection before a chip proceeds to fabrication.
The company has experienced remarkable growth since its inception, with usage surging 60 times in the first half of 2025. While specific customer names were not disclosed, Wang indicated that many of the top 20 semiconductor firms are already leveraging ChipAgents’ technology. “We’re seeing a lot of usage every day and new use cases each day,” Wang stated. “I think we’re witnessing the transformation of the semiconductor industry into agentic AI solutions for design verification.”
