TLDR: Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) is launching an AI-powered care call service for 2,000 elderly tenants living alone in rental housing by the end of this year, with plans for nationwide expansion. The service, utilizing Naver Cloud’s ‘Clova CareCall,’ aims to enhance welfare services and address staffing limitations.
The Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) announced on September 14, 2025, its initiative to introduce an artificial intelligence (AI) care call service designed to monitor and support elderly tenants living alone. This significant move aims to provide enhanced welfare services to approximately 2,000 single-person elderly households residing in national and permanent rental housing by the close of this year. Following a pilot phase, LH intends to expand the service nationwide after evaluating its effectiveness.
The new service leverages Naver Cloud’s ‘Clova CareCall’ technology, enabling regular check-ins and support for vulnerable elderly residents. This strategic implementation is part of LH’s broader vision to integrate advanced AI solutions into its housing welfare programs.
Looking ahead, LH plans to progressively broaden the application of AI. This includes the development of a housing welfare call center equipped with conversational chatbots for 24-hour counseling and the implementation of AI-driven safety monitoring systems for rental properties. To solidify these efforts, LH recently formalized a ‘memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation on AI-based housing welfare projects’ with Naver Cloud.
