TLDR: Cloudera has launched new services that enable enterprises to deploy and manage generative AI securely within their own data centers, addressing concerns around data privacy, security, and cost associated with public cloud AI solutions. This expansion includes AI Inference Service and AI Studios, both accelerated by NVIDIA, allowing organizations to leverage AI on their existing infrastructure.
Cloudera has significantly expanded its data services portfolio by introducing capabilities that bring generative AI directly into the enterprise data center. This strategic move, announced on August 20, 2025, aims to address critical barriers to AI adoption, particularly concerns surrounding data security, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property protection .
For many enterprises, the hesitation to fully embrace AI projects stems from the need to safeguard sensitive data and adhere to strict compliance requirements. Cloudera’s new offering allows organizations to run powerful AI models securely behind their own firewalls, eliminating the necessity of moving sensitive information to public clouds. This approach not only mitigates security risks but also contributes to reduced infrastructure costs by consolidating workloads and automating complex tasks .
Leo Brunnick, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, emphasized the company’s goal to empower regulated industries with greater control over their AI initiatives. “They can run powerful AI models securely within their own data center to address strict compliance and data privacy needs that public cloud options cannot always meet,” Brunnick stated. He further highlighted the platform’s ability to deliver “major improvements in performance and scalability,” enabling businesses to derive value from their AI projects more rapidly while optimizing the use of existing hardware . Brunnick also stressed the platform’s consistency across diverse environments, noting, “We are effectively bringing the benefits of the cloud anywhere, whether in a private data center, the public cloud, or a hybrid environment” .
This latest release from Cloudera introduces two key services designed for on-premise deployment:
1. AI Inference Service: Accelerated by NVIDIA, this service streamlines the deployment and management of large-scale AI models directly within the enterprise data center . It provides a secure and scalable engine for managing the AI production lifecycle where data already resides .
2. AI Studios: This service extends Cloudera’s low-code environment, enabling the building and running of generative AI applications and agents without exclusive reliance on public cloud infrastructure. It democratizes the AI application lifecycle, offering templates for rapid development and deployment .
Cloudera’s solution is designed to remove the traditional trade-off between speed and security in AI adoption. Enterprises can now scale their AI projects while maintaining full control over their sensitive data and meeting compliance demands. This marks a significant shift for IT leaders, moving AI from experimental stages to secure, production-ready environments within their own infrastructure . The company asserts that its platform is truly hybrid, allowing seamless transitions between cloud AI services and on-premise versions without forcing a choice .
According to Accenture, a significant 77% of organizations currently lack the foundational data and AI security practices necessary to protect critical models, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. Cloudera’s direct approach to these security and intellectual property risks aims to accelerate the journey from AI prototype to production, potentially reducing timelines from months to weeks . This release also promises to reduce infrastructure costs, streamline data lifecycles, and boost data team productivity, ultimately leading to faster time to value for AI deployments .
