MetaFarmers Raises $2.3 Million in Pre-Series A Funding for Agricultural AI Robotics

TLDR: Korean AI robotics startup MetaFarmers has successfully secured approximately $2.3 million (KRW 3 billion) in Pre-Series A funding. The investment, led by Octagon Venture Partners with participation from FuturePlay and Smilegate Investment, will accelerate the development of their ‘Omni Farmer’ multi-purpose agricultural robot. This funding aims to address the growing labor shortages in rural areas by integrating advanced AI and robotics into farming operations.

MetaFarmers, a pioneering Korean AI robotics startup, announced on August 12, 2025, that it has successfully closed its Pre-Series A funding round, attracting approximately $2.3 million (KRW 3 billion). The investment round was spearheaded by Octagon Venture Partners, which also participated in the seed round, with additional contributions from FuturePlay and Smilegate Investment. This significant capital injection is set to propel MetaFarmers’ mission to revolutionize agriculture through advanced robotics and artificial intelligence.

Founded by a team of robotics experts from Seoul National University’s IDIM Lab, MetaFarmers is at the forefront of developing the ‘Omni Farmer,’ a versatile agricultural robot designed to tackle the escalating labor shortages in rural communities, a critical issue exacerbated by aging populations. The company’s vision is to foster ‘a future where robots and humans farm together,’ creating a symbiotic relationship that enhances productivity and sustainability in agriculture.

The Omni Farmer robot is engineered to perform a wide array of agricultural tasks on a single platform, including harvesting, pollination, sorting, and monitoring. Its innovative design incorporates interchangeable grippers and sophisticated crop-recognition AI technology, making it adaptable for use in various farming environments, from traditional fields to modern vertical farms and greenhouses. This multi-tasking capability, combined with its advanced AI, provides MetaFarmers with a distinct technological differentiation and competitive edge in the agritech market.

MetaFarmers’ commitment to innovation has garnered international recognition, including the prestigious CES 2025 AgTech Innovation Award. The company recently further enhanced the Omni Farmer’s capabilities by integrating an AI-based growth prediction model developed by the Rural Development Administration, promising even greater efficiency and precision in farming operations.

Currently, MetaFarmers is actively engaged in Proof of Concept (PoC) projects with key agricultural stakeholders, including the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, large-scale farms, and Smart Farm Innovation Valleys. These collaborations are crucial steps as the company prepares for its full market entry, aiming to deploy its robotic solutions widely to support the agricultural sector.
