Ukrainian Swarmer Secures $15 Million for AI Drone Solutions, Revolutionizing Defense Technology

TLDR: Ukrainian defense technology startup Swarmer has successfully closed a $15 million Series A funding round, marking the largest publicly disclosed investment in a Ukrainian defense tech company since the full-scale war. This capital injection will accelerate the development and deployment of Swarmer’s AI-powered autonomous drone swarm technology, which enables a single operator to control multiple drones simultaneously. The funding round was led by US-based Broadband Capital Investments, with participation from several other prominent venture capital firms, highlighting growing international confidence in Ukraine’s innovative defense ecosystem.

Kyiv, Ukraine – October 13, 2025 – Swarmer, a pioneering Ukrainian defense technology startup, has announced the successful completion of a $15 million Series A funding round. This significant achievement represents the largest publicly disclosed investment in a Ukrainian defense tech company since the onset of the full-scale war, underscoring the robust growth and international confidence in Ukraine’s burgeoning innovation ecosystem and its battle-tested, AI-driven drone solutions. The funding, initially announced in mid-September 2025, is set to dramatically accelerate the development and deployment of Swarmer’s autonomous swarm technology, with profound implications for the future of warfare and Ukraine’s role as a leading innovator in defense.

Founded in May 2023 by Serhii Kupriienko and Alex Fink, Swarmer specializes in advanced battlefield AI products that enable unmanned vehicles, primarily drones, to operate autonomously and collaboratively in large swarms. Their core offerings, the ‘Swarmer Platform’ and ‘Styx AI system,’ are designed to allow a single operator to control dozens or even hundreds of drones simultaneously, directly addressing critical frontline challenges such as the shortage of trained pilots.

This record-breaking investment was led by US-based Broadband Capital Investments, with significant participation from R-G.AI, D3 Ventures (a fund connected to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt), Green Flag Ventures, Radius Capital, Network VC, and UA1 VC. This latest funding round brings Swarmer’s total capital raised to approximately $17.9 million, which includes a prior $2.9 million seed round in 2023 and an initial $70,000 personal investment. While the company has not publicly disclosed its valuation, Forbes estimates it to be between $35 million and $70 million.

Swarmer CEO Serhii Kupriienko stated, “This funding enables us to scale our operations and offer advanced swarming capabilities to every unmanned vehicle, in Ukraine and across NATO-aligned nations.” This expansion is crucial as Ukraine continues to rapidly scale up its drone program, with President Volodymyr Zelensky having previously indicated the country’s potential to produce up to 8 million drones annually if adequately funded.

Deputy Prime Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov highlighted the transformative impact of Ukrainian innovations, noting that they “have become game changers on the battlefield and have forever changed the perception of modern technological warfare.” Fedorov further emphasized that the new funding will enable swarm capabilities for every unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), allowing for the deployment of a virtually unlimited number of drones and ground robots without dependence on the number of trained pilots. He added that the capital inflows from U.S. venture funds underscore the global investment appeal of Ukrainian security and defense solutions, signaling their readiness for large-scale deployment on the frontline.
