Kakao Pay Securities announced on October 14, 2025, the successful conclusion of its inaugural ‘AI Hackathon,’ an internal initiative designed to immerse employees in artificial intelligence and harness its potential for business and service innovation. The awards ceremony took place at the company’s Pangyo office, recognizing outstanding ideas developed during the intensive event.
The hackathon, held at the Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, brought together a diverse group of 99 employees forming 29 teams. Participation extended beyond traditional developer roles, drawing members from non-development departments such such as legal, human resources, and corporate planning, underscoring a company-wide commitment to AI adoption. The event’s theme, ‘With AI and by AI, better customer experience and more efficient work,’ guided participants in planning and implementing their ideas over a 10-hour period.
Team ‘Foking’ secured first place for their innovative solution in automated ad review. Their project, which streamlines the complex process of advertising compliance using AI, received high praise for its practical application and efficiency gains. Second place was awarded to Team ‘Ancamilo’ for developing features aimed at improving web accessibility for users with low vision, demonstrating a focus on inclusive service design. Team ‘Jeongmal Joheun Gongsi Saenghwal’ earned third place by creating a system that automatically filters key disclosures through the analysis of extensive disclosure data.

Winners were presented with significant prizes, including the latest MacBook, iPhone, and Galaxy Fold devices. Lee Hyeong-ju, head of the AI Service Center at Kakao Pay Securities, commented on the hackathon’s success, stating, ‘This hackathon produced many ideas that earned practical consensus as ‘really useful for everyday work.’ The company views this event as a crucial step in cultivating an organizational culture where AI is seamlessly integrated into both work efficiency initiatives and the broader planning and development of user-centric services.
