Shenzhen, China – At the Global Digital System Summit 2025, held from September 16 to 17 in Shenzhen, Chinese technology powerhouse Tencent unveiled a comprehensive suite of new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and outlined ambitious plans for global expansion, with a particular focus on the Middle East. The announcements highlight Tencent’s strategy to leverage AI for industrial efficiency and unlock new growth opportunities worldwide.
Central to Tencent’s AI offensive is the global rollout of its new scenario-driven AI capabilities, designed to empower enterprises. A key innovation introduced is the Agent Development Platform 3.0 (ADP), accessible via Tencent Cloud. This platform enables businesses to create autonomous AI agents capable of streamlining various operations, including customer service, marketing, inventory management, and research. Tencent is also enhancing its foundational AI infrastructure, confirming full compatibility with China’s mainstream domestic processors and upgrading internal models and ‘Agent Runtime’ to ensure stable and secure agent deployment.
The company showcased several new AI-powered tools aimed at boosting productivity. Its SaaS+AI toolkit now includes advanced office collaboration features such as AI Minutes within Tencent Meetings, which has seen a remarkable 150% year-on-year growth. Another notable tool, Learn Share, is currently utilized by over 300,000 clients and boasts a 92% accuracy rate in knowledge management. For developers, Code Buddy, an AI programming assistant, is reported to cut coding time by 40% and increase R&D efficiency by approximately 16%. Furthermore, Tencent launched new models in its Hunyuan 3D series, offering advanced capabilities for 3D content generation in media and gaming, with over 2.6 million downloads on Hugging Face, making it a widely adopted open-source 3D model series.
Dowson Tong, Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent and CEO of its Cloud and Smart Industries Group, emphasized the dual thrust of the company’s strategy. “Practical applications of AI drive business efficiency, while international expansion unlocks new growth opportunities. The solutions we launch today will empower enterprises on their journey toward intelligence and globalization, ensuring sustainable and scalable growth,” Tong stated during his keynote.
In line with its globalization ambitions, Tencent announced significant investments to expand its international footprint. The company plans to invest $150 million to establish its first Middle East data center in Saudi Arabia. This move is part of a broader strategy that also includes building a third data center in Osaka, Japan, alongside a new regional office. Additionally, Tencent will invest $500 million in Indonesia to construct its third data center in the country. Tencent Cloud has already seen its overseas client base double since last year, now operating across more than 20 regions, with over 90% of China’s major internet and gaming firms utilizing its international cloud services.
