Singapore, Singapore – September 21, 2025 – Questflow, a prominent player in AI-driven workflows, has officially announced its role as an Early Contributing Partner for Google’s groundbreaking Agent Payments Protocol (AP2). This significant collaboration marks a pivotal step towards establishing a secure, transparent, and auditable framework for transactions conducted by artificial intelligence agents.
Unveiled on September 17, 2025, AP2 is a global open protocol spearheaded by Google in conjunction with over 60 leading organizations spanning blockchain, fintech, payments, and major financial sectors. The initiative directly confronts the inherent challenges of traditional payment systems, which were primarily designed for human users and struggle with the complexities of authorization, authenticity, and accountability when AI agents autonomously conduct transactions.
The core of AP2 lies in its innovative ‘Task Authorization’ mechanism. This system is engineered to establish a secure and tamper-proof transaction flow by generating digitally signed contracts for every transaction. It meticulously ‘records the user’s initial intent, authorization, and final payment with a comprehensive audit trail,’ ensuring that all transactions are verifiable and traceable, thereby fostering trust and security in the AI-driven economy.
This protocol is designed to enable a new era of commerce, facilitating experiences such as intelligent shopping, personalized offers, and seamless cross-platform task collaboration. It boasts support for a wide array of payment methods, including traditional credit and debit cards, as well as emerging options like stablecoins and cryptocurrencies. To further accelerate the integration of the web3 ecosystem, Google, in collaboration with entities like Coinbase and the Ethereum Foundation, has already launched the A2A x402 extension, a production-ready solution specifically for agent-based crypto payments.
Questflow’s involvement as an early contributor leverages its expertise in AI-driven workflows, combining it with Google’s robust infrastructure leadership. This partnership is set to advance the AP2 protocol and accelerate the development of essential infrastructure for the rapidly evolving AI-driven economy. Other notable partners contributing to this open standard include Mysten Labs, Ethereum Foundation, MetaMask, Adyen, American Express, Mastercard, Etsy, Forter, Intuit, JCB, Paypal, Revolut, Salesforce, ServiceNow, UnionPay International, and Worldpay.
Google executives have underscored their commitment to an open and collaborative development process. As stated in a blog post, ‘We are committed to evolving this protocol in an open, collaborative process… and invite the entire payments and technology community to build this future with us.’ This sentiment is echoed by industry leaders, with Prakhar Mehrotra, SVP and Global Head of AI at PayPal, noting that ‘AP2 provides the critical foundation for trusted agent payments, giving the ecosystem much needed clarity on how to facilitate trusted transactions.’
