Techcyte and Modella AI Forge Research Alliance to Advance AI-Powered Digital Pathology

TLDR: Techcyte, a leader in AI-powered digital diagnostics, has announced a research collaboration with Modella AI, a biomedical artificial intelligence company. This partnership integrates Modella AI’s agentic and generative AI platform, PathChat™, into Techcyte’s Fusion™ platform to enhance digital pathology research, workflow efficiency, and access to advanced AI tools. Modella AI’s PathChat DX, a research-use only version, has received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for its potential in diagnosing severe conditions, though its current use within Techcyte Fusion remains strictly for research.

OREM, Utah – August 12, 2025 – Techcyte, a prominent provider of AI-powered digital diagnostics for both anatomic and clinical pathology, has officially announced a significant research collaboration with Modella AI. Modella AI, recognized as a biomedical artificial intelligence company at the forefront of computational pathology, will integrate its state-of-the-art agentic and generative AI-powered diagnostic pathology platform, PathChat™, into Techcyte’s existing Techcyte Fusion™ platform.

The collaboration aims to significantly advance AI-powered digital pathology by combining Modella AI’s innovative research-use only AI co-pilot for pathologists, PathChat™, with Techcyte’s integrated, cloud-based digital pathology platform. This synergy is expected to bolster workflow efficiency and broaden access to sophisticated AI-powered pathology tools for research purposes.

Modella AI specializes in leveraging generative and agentic AI to improve pathology. Its flagship research product, PathChat, is designed to facilitate intelligent interactions with digital slides, offering capabilities such as report summarization, image interpretation, and contextual question answering for pathologists.

An advanced research-use only iteration of the tool, PathChat DX, has notably been granted U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Breakthrough Device Designation. This designation underscores the device’s potential to provide a more effective diagnosis for life-threatening or irreversibly debilitating conditions. However, it is crucial to note that any application of PathChat within the Techcyte Fusion platform is strictly for research use only and is not intended for clinical diagnostic purposes.
