The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) is set to host its annual AI Asia Summit on November 12, 2025, at the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo. Under the theme ‘AI in Action’, the summit will serve as a pivotal platform to demonstrate how artificial intelligence is driving significant and measurable transformation across diverse sectors, moving beyond theoretical discussions to practical implementation.
This year’s summit emphasizes bridging the gap between AI vision and real-world application, showcasing how Sri Lankan companies are leveraging AI in various business contexts, including finance, manufacturing, and services. Arjuna Sirinanda, SLASSCOM Board Director, articulated that ‘AI in Action isn’t just a theme; it’s a call to move from experimentation to measurable impact.’ He further highlighted the event’s focus on collaboration, aiming to unite the ecosystem to convert Sri Lanka’s AI potential into concrete economic value.
Dhaminda Siriwardena, SLASSCOM Tech Forum Lead, added that the summit offers a unique opportunity for businesses to witness AI transitioning from theory to execution, providing crucial insights for developing future-ready strategies. He also underscored the event’s commitment to ethics, governance, and human-centered innovation, making it particularly relevant for companies pursuing responsible growth.
Shehani Seneviratne, SLASSCOM Chairperson, reflected on Sri Lanka’s increasing prominence in the AI landscape, stating that ‘Sri Lanka and the broader South Asian region are uniquely positioned to become leaders in responsible and scalable AI across industries.’ She emphasized the country’s dynamic talent pool, innovative startups, and strong technical foundations as key assets for developing impactful, ethical, and globally competitive AI solutions. Seneviratne also stressed the importance of collaboration among academia, industry, and policymakers to foster innovation and maximize AI’s potential.
The summit’s agenda is packed with sessions covering a wide array of topics, including AI in engineering, banking and finance, manufacturing, sustainability, human capital, and emerging AI technologies. Specific sessions will delve into ‘AI Driving Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy,’ ‘Age of Digital Employee: AI agents in Action,’ and ‘Healthtech Revolution: AI in Action.’ The event will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including Dr. Radheeka Jayasundera Abeyweera (John Keells Group), Dr. Rukshan Batuwita (Google), Vel Palraj (AWS), and Hasith Yaggahavita (99X Technology), among others.
