Hyderabad, India, is gearing up to host the prestigious Commonwealth AI Global Summit 2025, marking the first time this significant international event will be held in the country. Scheduled for November 22 and 23, the two-day summit aims to foster collaboration between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and healthcare professionals, exploring AI’s profound impact on medicine, healthcare management, and digital health systems.
The summit is a collaborative effort organized by the Commonwealth Medical Association, in partnership with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Indian Medical Association. It is anticipated to draw approximately 2,500 delegates, including policymakers, researchers, and healthcare professionals from more than 50 countries, underscoring its global significance.
Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Council of Higher Education, emphasized the summit’s importance, stating, “This summit gives India a platform to engage in those global conversations.” The event will delve into the medical, ethical, and regulatory challenges that accompany the rapid advancements in AI within the healthcare sector.
Dr. Prabhu Kumar Challagali, the Organising Chairman and head of the AI Digital Committee, expressed his belief that the summit presents a “historic chance for India to become a leader in healthcare technology innovation.” He also announced a groundbreaking initiative: the introduction of a Fellowship Certificate in Commonwealth AI and Digital Health in India, to be offered by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Further highlighting the local commitment to AI integration, Dr. P. V. Nanda Kumar Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, confirmed that the university plans to train health centers in its adopted villages on the responsible application of AI tools. Dr. E. Ravindra Reddy, Chairman of the National Action Committee, noted that AI is already reshaping clinical workflows and assisting doctors in reducing repetitive tasks.
