Samtec and Molex Partner to Expand High-Speed Interconnect Supply for Data Centers and AI

TLDR: Samtec and Molex have announced a second-source license agreement for Samtec’s Si-Fly® HD high-speed interconnect family. This collaboration aims to enhance product availability and supply chain flexibility for critical applications in data centers, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence, ensuring customers have reliable access to advanced connectivity solutions.

In a significant move to address the escalating demand for high-speed data rates in advanced computing environments, Samtec, Inc., a leader in the connector industry, and Molex, a global electronics innovator, have entered into a second-source license agreement. This strategic partnership designates Molex as an authorized manufacturer and distributor for Samtec’s Si-Fly® HD product family, a crucial component in high-performance interconnect solutions.

The agreement, announced on September 10, 2025, is designed to provide customers with extended product availability and enhanced supply chain flexibility for robust, scalable connectivity solutions. The Si-Fly® HD product family is renowned for its industry-leading signal integrity, supporting data rates vital for modern networking, communications, and computing systems, including the demanding 224 Gbps PAM4 applications.

This collaboration is particularly timely given the rapid expansion of data centers, high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) applications. These sectors require increasingly sophisticated high-speed, high-density interconnects to manage vast amounts of data efficiently and reliably. By establishing Molex as a second source, Samtec aims to mitigate potential supply disruptions and ensure a consistent flow of these critical components to the global market.

Brian Vicich, CTO of Samtec, emphasized the importance of this alliance, stating, “Collaborating with Molex as a second source for Si-Fly HD demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with reliable worldwide supply and exceptional technical support. Molex’s manufacturing capabilities, deep engineering expertise, and global reach make them an ideal resource to extend the availability of this high-performance interconnect family.”
