Paygentic Secures $2 Million Pre-Seed Funding to Revolutionize Billing for AI-Native Products

TLDR: San Francisco-based fintech Paygentic has successfully raised $2 million in pre-seed funding, led by MiddleGame Ventures, to develop a specialized billing and payments infrastructure for AI-native and agent-driven products. This funding addresses the critical challenge of variable compute costs and dynamic pricing models prevalent in the AI software landscape, enabling flexible monetization strategies including subscription, usage-based, and outcome-based models.

San Francisco, CA – October 23, 2025 – Paygentic, an emerging fintech firm based in San Francisco, today announced it has closed a $2 million pre-seed funding round. This significant investment is earmarked for the development of a pioneering billing and payments infrastructure specifically designed to meet the unique demands of AI-native and agent-driven products. The round was led by MiddleGame Ventures, with notable participation from Anamcara Capital, Aperture, Angel Invest, Alan Morgan (Chairman at Adfisco), and Tech Operators.

Founded in early 2025 by Irish entrepreneur Susan O’Neill and Spanish engineer Samuel Alarco Cantos, Paygentic emerged from a shared frustration with the limitations of traditional billing systems when applied to complex, AI-driven business models. Existing payment processors often struggle to accommodate the dynamic usage metrics and intricate pricing models that characterize AI software, frequently forcing AI companies into rigid, fixed monthly SaaS billing structures. This mismatch can constrain revenue upside and increase downside risk for businesses with highly variable compute costs.

Paygentic’s innovative platform aims to provide the monetization backbone for the rapidly expanding ecosystem of AI-driven products. It offers flexible tools for subscription, usage-based, and outcome-based pricing, allowing companies to align revenue more closely with actual consumption and results. The infrastructure is engineered to handle the transactional complexity associated with machine-led decision-making and high-frequency microtransactions, converting agent activity—such as prompts, outcomes, and usage events—directly into revenue.

Co-founder Susan O’Neill, drawing from her finance background, observed how inflexible financial systems hindered innovation, while co-founder Samuel Alarco Cantos, an engineer, consistently encountered billing tools inadequate for usage-based or outcome-driven products. Their mission is to empower AI companies to charge based on true value creation.

The company has been operating in stealth mode since its inception, collaborating with a select group of early adopters to refine its offerings. The newly secured funding will be instrumental in expanding Paygentic’s workforce, scaling its platform, advancing its product roadmap, and strengthening its payments infrastructure to serve a growing customer base across both the United States and Europe.

This investment positions Paygentic to address a critical gap in the current fintech landscape, where payment systems have lagged behind the sophistication of the AI technologies they are meant to serve. As AI companies continue to scale and the institutional adoption of agentic systems grows, flexible and adaptive billing solutions are becoming indispensable components of digital finance infrastructure.
