TLDR: Seattle-based startup Hyphen AI has successfully raised $5 million in seed funding, led by Unlock Venture Partners. The company’s flagship product, Hyphen Deploy, leverages generative AI to automate complex cloud infrastructure deployments, aiming to significantly reduce the time and effort developers spend on DevOps tasks. This funding will fuel sales efforts and platform expansion, bringing a developer-first approach to cloud operations.
Seattle, WA – October 22, 2025 – Hyphen AI, an innovative Seattle-based startup, today announced it has closed a $5 million seed funding round. The investment, spearheaded by Unlock Venture Partners, is set to accelerate the development and market penetration of Hyphen Deploy, a groundbreaking platform designed to automate cloud infrastructure deployments using advanced generative artificial intelligence.
Hyphen AI’s core mission is to eliminate the ‘DevOps tax’ that often burdens software developers. Its product, Hyphen Deploy, transforms complex, manual infrastructure setup – typically involving YAML files, Dockerfiles, and Terraform modules – into a streamlined process driven by natural language prompts and business rules. This allows developers to simply describe their application’s desired functionality, latency, scale, or compliance requirements, and the platform automatically generates production-ready cloud infrastructure across major providers like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, and Cloudflare.
Jared Wray, CEO and founder of Hyphen AI and a veteran of cloud startups, highlighted the transformative potential of their solution. “Today infrastructure automation typically takes weeks to setup and configure and then monthly maintenance on those configurations — Deploy reduces it to minutes,” Wray stated. He further emphasized the company’s ambitious goal: “We’re not trying to make DevOps easier; we’re trying to make it disappear. Developers should be able to architect, run, scale and manage their apps without needing to wait for a [site reliability engineer] to show up.”
The platform employs multiple AI systems, including large language models, to understand codebases and generative models to construct Docker images and deployment architectures. Wray clarified that Hyphen AI differentiates itself from generic AI tools by integrating policy-based guardrails. “You can’t just ask a chatbot to write a Kubernetes manifest and hope it works. Nine times out of 10, [a generic LLM] will get it wrong. We put best practices in those engines, and then we put guardrails around it, so we know that it’s actually going to deploy successfully,” he explained.
Andy Liu, a partner at Unlock Venture Partners, expressed strong confidence in Hyphen AI’s approach. “The market desperately needs a truly developer-first operations platform,” Liu commented. He added, “Deploy returns software development to the promise of developers leading the way with no infrastructure overhead, just focus on code.”
Before founding Hyphen AI, Wray observed that the increasing complexity of cloud provisioning was hindering developers, forcing them to spend up to 20% of their time on configuration rather than coding. Hyphen Deploy addresses this by provisioning containers, configuring cloud infrastructure, allocating services, setting policies, and managing deployments automatically, even handling configuration drift.
The Hyphen Deploy service is offered as a cloud-based solution, priced per user and by usage at 20 cents per minute during deployment. Wray noted that initial deployments typically take five to ten minutes, with subsequent updates completing in two to three minutes. The company has already seen its platform in use by customers for the past five months.

The newly secured funding will be strategically allocated to bolster sales initiatives and expand the platform’s capabilities. Future plans include extending support to private clouds, Red Hat OpenShift, and native Kubernetes environments, further solidifying Hyphen AI’s position as a leader in AI-driven cloud automation.
