Jindal Global University (JGU), a leading institution recognized as India’s #1 Private University by the QS World University Rankings for three consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023) and an ‘Institution of Eminence’ by the Government of India, has announced the launch of India’s first one-year Master’s program in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. This groundbreaking initiative, offered through JGU’s Jindal Centre for Digital Sciences, is developed in collaboration with upGrad, a prominent integrated skilling and lifelong learning platform.
The program aims to bridge the significant skills gap in the rapidly evolving fields of AI and data science. A KPMG report highlighted that 72% of surveyed executives believe generative AI can substantially boost productivity, with 66% anticipating shifts in work practices and 62% foreseeing innovation leading to new products and services. This unprecedented demand has created a shortage of AI expertise that traditional education models struggle to meet.
Designed for working professionals and graduates from any academic background, the Master’s in AI and Data Science follows a ‘Zero to One’ principle, starting with fundamental mathematical concepts and progressing to advanced technical skills and business applications. Crucially, it has no requirement for prior coding experience, making it widely accessible. The curriculum is intensive, featuring over 500 learning hours, more than 15 industry projects, and the opportunity to choose from 5 Capstone Tracks, ensuring hands-on experience and practical application of knowledge.
Instruction will be provided by a world-class faculty, including experts from renowned universities such as the University of Houston and the University of Waterloo, alongside industry leaders who have successfully implemented AI, Machine Learning, and data science solutions at scale. The 12-month program is divided into three trimesters, covering core foundational courses, advanced AI and data science, and specialization courses culminating in a capstone project. Learning is facilitated through a blend of recorded content and live sessions focusing on case studies and real-world applications.

Graduates of this program will be awarded a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science degree from O.P. Jindal Global University, along with an additional certificate from Microsoft. The program prepares students for a wide array of career opportunities, including roles as Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, AI Product Managers, Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts, AI/ML Consultants, Big Data Engineers, and even leadership positions like Head of Data Strategy or Chief Data Officer.
