TLDR: Mumbai-based Cinefai Studios has launched an episodic Ramayana series created entirely with next-generation generative AI tools, releasing both a stunning trailer and its first episode on YouTube and Instagram.
Mumbai, India – In a groundbreaking move for the entertainment industry, Cinefai Studios, a Mumbai-based production house, has unveiled an ambitious episodic series adapting the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana, utilizing cutting-edge generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The studio recently released a visually striking trailer and the inaugural episode of the series, which are now available on their official YouTube and Instagram channels.
Film critic Taran Adarsh took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the development, stating, “GEN-AI DEVELOPED ‘RAMAYANA’ TRAILER UNVEILED… #CinefaiStudios – a #Mumbai-based, #GenAI-powered studio – has unveiled the trailer of its episodic series #Ramayana, created entirely using next-gen AI tools. The trailer is now live on the studio’s official #Instagram and #YouTube channels, and the first episode has also premiered!”
Cinefai Studios describes their project as “our own original Ramayana series — rooted in the epic, powered by cinematic visuals, and told in pure Hindi.” They aim to offer a “raw, immersive experience that stands on its own,” positioning it as a distinct offering amidst discussions around other upcoming Ramayana adaptations. The trailer, released on July 30, 2025, on Cinefai Studios’ YouTube channel, is a two-minute, 14-second preview showcasing key moments such as Ravana’s transformation and abduction of Sita, Jatayu’s valiant attempt to rescue her, and Lord Ram assembling the Vaanar Sena with Hanuman’s assistance.
This venture marks a continued exploration of AI in mythological storytelling for Cinefai. The studio has previously produced GenAI-powered videos based on the Mahabharata and an epic confrontation between Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The studio’s innovative approach aligns with a broader industry trend where global players like Netflix and Indian platforms such as Pratilipi are increasingly integrating AI into content creation. Pratilipi, for instance, recently collaborated with Teevra Studios to launch “Bedard Piya,” India’s first GenAI-animated series.
