TLDR: MakeMyTrip has launched Myra, an advanced multilingual AI-powered travel assistant. Currently in beta, Myra facilitates travel bookings and planning through natural, human-like conversations in English, Hindi, and Hinglish, with plans for more Indian languages. This initiative aims to democratize online travel for a wider Indian demographic, particularly in underserved regions, by simplifying the booking process and offering comprehensive support from discovery to post-trip services.
MakeMyTrip, a leading online travel company, has introduced ‘Myra,’ a sophisticated multilingual AI-powered Trip Planning Assistant, marking a significant technological advancement in the travel sector. Launched in early August 2025, Myra is designed to transform the user experience by enabling natural, human-like conversations for all travel-related needs. The assistant is currently in its beta phase and supports interactions via both voice and text in English, Hindi, and a blend of both, known as Hinglish, with future plans to incorporate additional Indian regional languages.
Myra serves as a comprehensive digital travel companion, guiding users through every stage of their journey—from initial trip discovery and planning to booking and even post-travel services. It is capable of interpreting complex, open-ended queries and providing real-time, contextually relevant suggestions, representing a substantial upgrade over MakeMyTrip’s previous AI tools.
The rollout of Myra underscores MakeMyTrip’s strategic vision to enhance travel accessibility and personalization for a broader demographic across India. Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, emphasized that the integration of generative AI allows the platform to bridge the gap between user intent and action. He stated that this solution has the potential to ‘solve for the Bharat heartland,’ reaching deeper into India’s regions where English-language interfaces often pose a barrier to online travel bookings.
Sanjay Mohan, Group CTO at MakeMyTrip, described Myra as one of the company’s most ambitious technological builds. He highlighted the in-house development of custom language models and advanced real-time scheduling engines that work in concert to ensure accurate, fast, and user-relevant results. This layered AI framework enables Myra to address a wide array of user needs, covering bookings for flights, accommodations, holiday packages, local transport, visas, and foreign exchange. The system is built upon a specialized network of AI agents, each tailored to a specific domain within the travel ecosystem.
MakeMyTrip has been an early adopter of generative AI in the travel sector, having integrated GenAI into core functionalities since 2023 with tools like Fare Lock and Zero Cancellation. With Myra, the company further solidifies its commitment to reshaping digital travel experiences through smarter, more accessible, and inclusive AI solutions. The company anticipates that Myra will attract millions of new users, particularly from smaller towns and tier-2/3 cities, who have historically been underserved by English-first digital platforms.
While Myra can facilitate individual travel bookings, Magow clarified that it is not yet equipped to handle complex tasks such as group tours, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), or intricate negotiations, which still require human intervention. However, he noted that even if AI can perform 50% of a human tour manager’s work, there will still be ample room for human expertise in other tasks and AI-related human oversight.
