Global Travel Leaders Unveil Next-Generation AI-Powered Assistants for Seamless Trip Planning

TLDR: Yatra, in collaboration with major travel platforms like Despegar, Skyscanner, Kayak, TripAdvisor, and Traveloka, has launched new AI-powered travel assistants. This initiative aims to provide travelers with seamless and personalized trip experiences, leveraging generative AI for end-to-end trip planning, instant bookings, and post-booking management, marking a significant shift in the global travel industry.

In a significant move set to revolutionize the travel industry, Yatra Online Limited, a prominent Indian online travel company, has announced the launch of its new AI-powered travel assistant, DIYA. This initiative is part of a broader trend seeing major global travel platforms, including Despegar, Skyscanner, Kayak, TripAdvisor, and Traveloka, rolling out their own advanced AI-powered tools to enhance customer experiences and streamline trip planning.

Yatra’s DIYA, introduced in August 2025, is a generative AI assistant designed to offer end-to-end trip planning capabilities. Travelers can now plan entire journeys within a single chat interface, facilitating instant bookings and efficient post-booking management. This development underscores Yatra’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to provide seamless and personalized travel solutions.

The global travel landscape is rapidly evolving with the integration of artificial intelligence. TripAdvisor, a long-standing leader in travel reviews, has extended its offerings with an AI Trip Builder in 2025. This tool utilizes AI to generate personalized itineraries, answer traveler queries, and provide tailored suggestions, drawing insights from millions of reviews and ratings across its multilingual platform. Similarly, Kayak has launched KAYAK.ai for global markets, while Skyscanner is actively blending AI into its services to enhance global language reach. Despegar, a leading online travel company in Latin America, has also introduced its AI assistant, SOFIA.

This wave of AI adoption is not limited to these giants. In early August 2025, MakeMyTrip, another key player in the Indian market, launched Myra, its AI-powered trip planning assistant. While Myra initially supports English and Hindi, the company has indicated plans to expand to more Indian languages, recognizing the diverse linguistic landscape of its user base. Myra excels in conversational trip planning, offering hotel, flight, and activity options based on user requests.
