TLDR: Instacart has launched a comprehensive suite of AI-powered solutions designed to help grocery stores of all sizes enhance customer experiences, optimize operations, and compete in an AI-driven market. The offerings include tools for personalized shopping, in-store intelligence, and advanced analytics, with initial partners like Kroger and Sprouts Farmers Market already implementing the technology.
SAN FRANCISCO – November 4, 2025 – Instacart (NASDAQ: CART), a leading grocery technology company in North America, today announced the rollout of its new AI Solutions, a robust suite of enterprise offerings aimed at democratizing artificial intelligence for grocery retailers. These solutions are specifically engineered to address the unique complexities of the grocery sector, extending Instacart’s technological leadership across online storefronts, physical store shelves, and shopping carts to deliver smarter, more personalized shopping experiences.
Chris Rogers, CEO of Instacart, emphasized the transformative potential of these innovations. “AI is transforming how people shop for groceries and feed their families, and Instacart is uniquely positioned to help retailers – from national chains and regional favorites to local independents – harness that change and drive meaningful results for their customers and business,” Rogers stated in a press release. He added, “These new AI solutions mark the next chapter in our enterprise story – empowering retailers to turn generative and agentic AI into a true competitive edge. In an era of rapid technological change, we’re helping grocers of all sizes not only keep pace, but also compete – and win – in an AI-powered world.”
The newly launched AI Solutions are structured around five key areas:
1. Agentic Commerce: This solution focuses on integrating grocery shopping capabilities with next-generation digital agents through partnerships with leading AI companies such as Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. Instacart anticipates that every generative AI company will eventually connect to its grocery engine, merging their consumer reach with Instacart’s extensive network of retail partners.
2. AI Assistant (Cart Assistant): Instacart’s white-label AI assistant provides AI-powered, omnichannel support for grocery shopping. Designed for both retailers’ websites and in-store environments, Cart Assistant can be integrated via Storefront Pro online or embedded into Caper Carts in-store, creating a seamless online-to-offline experience. It aims to enhance personalization by generating detailed meal plans and product recommendations based on user profiles and dietary needs. Kroger is set to launch the Cart Assistant feature within its iOS app, while Sprouts Farmers Market will integrate it across its website, app, and in-store Caper Carts.
3. In-Store Intelligence (Store View): This component offers real-time visibility into store shelves, utilizing AI and computer vision technology to convert images and video into actionable insights. Store View is already operational with Good Food Holdings and is slated for launch at McKeever’s.
4. Catalog Intelligence (Catalog Engine): Instacart’s Catalog Engine leverages AI to enrich product data with crucial details like nutrition facts and health tags, significantly improving search results and product recommendations for consumers.
5. Agentic Analytics: These advanced analytics capabilities are designed to transform raw retail data into actionable insights, empowering merchandising and operational teams to make smarter, faster decisions.
