IIT Roorkee and Futurense Launch Pioneering AI/GenAI Cybersecurity Program

TLDR: IIT Roorkee, in collaboration with Futurense, has introduced a nine-month hybrid postgraduate certificate program in AI/GenAI-powered cybersecurity. Starting October 18, 2025, this program is India’s first designed to equip professionals with skills to combat and leverage AI in the evolving cyber threat landscape, addressing challenges like deepfakes and AI-driven phishing attacks. The curriculum includes over 30 industry tools and offers flexible EMI options for the ₹1.4 lakh + GST fee.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, in a strategic partnership with Futurense, has unveiled a groundbreaking nine-month hybrid postgraduate certificate program focused on AI and Generative AI-powered cybersecurity. Set to commence on October 18, 2025, this initiative marks a significant milestone as it is being positioned as India’s first program specifically designed to counter emerging threats posed by the malicious use of generative AI in cybercrime.

The program aims to address the rapidly shifting cyber threat landscape, where traditional network defenses are proving insufficient against sophisticated AI-driven attacks. The curriculum is meticulously crafted to prepare professionals for challenges such as deepfakes, AI-authored phishing attacks, large language model exploits, and automated Security Operations Center (SOC) intrusions. It emphasizes the critical need for securing algorithms, AI systems, and cloud infrastructures, moving beyond conventional network protection.

Participants will engage in live weekend online sessions, complemented by an optional two to three-day campus immersion experience at IIT Roorkee. The course boasts a comprehensive curriculum that includes hands-on training with over 30 industry tools, such as LangChain, GPT platforms, SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response), and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems, to simulate real-world cybersecurity scenarios. Additionally, students will gain access to a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) preparation module and a generative AI red-teaming handbook.

Dr. Gaurav Nayak, Assistant Professor at the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, IIT Roorkee, highlighted the program’s relevance, stating, “Cybersecurity today is no longer about protecting networks; it’s more about defending algorithms, AI systems, and cloud pipelines. This program is designed to prepare professionals for exactly that.”

The program is mapped to critical industry roles, including SOC analyst, security automation engineer, cloud security associate, and large language model risk evaluator, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the modern cybersecurity workforce. Its curriculum is also aligned with international standards such as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
