Bhubaneswar, India – In a significant move to combat India’s escalating cybersecurity talent deficit, Sri Sri University (SSU) has officially launched the nation’s first industry-integrated Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program in Cybersecurity & Incident Management. This groundbreaking initiative is a collaborative effort with SecurEyes, a leading cybersecurity consulting firm, and is poised to revolutionize cybersecurity education by blending rigorous academic frameworks with extensive real-world, hands-on training.
The two-year MCA program, which also offers a flexible one-year exit option for a Post Graduate Diploma under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is meticulously co-designed by cybersecurity industry experts. It caters to both fresh graduates and working professionals seeking to upskill or transition into the high-demand cybersecurity field. A key highlight of the curriculum is the immediate immersion into practical learning, with students gaining 24/7 access to over 45 industry-standard tools, 62 labs, and 7 Generative AI platforms from their very first semester. The program incorporates project-based credits, weekend mentorships, and real-world apprenticeships starting from Year 1, ensuring students are equipped with practical skills from the outset.
Ms. Uma Pendyala, Head Business Operations at SecurEyes, emphasized the program’s unique approach, stating, “By blending academic structure with real-world tools, live projects, and mentorship, we are ensuring students are job-ready and globally competitive. Seemanta Patnaik, CTO of SecurEyes, further added that this partnership would drive innovation, research, and growth in the cybersecurity landscape by integrating hands-on training with academic rigor.
The urgency for such a program is underscored by alarming statistics in the cybersecurity sector. Globally, there is a talent gap of approximately 3.5 million cybersecurity professionals. In 2024 alone, 4.8 million roles remained unfilled, with projections indicating over 7 million openings by 2030. Cybersecurity jobs are growing three times faster than general IT roles, yet employers often face delays of 4-6 months in filling positions due to the skills gap. The industry requires a staggering 145% growth in talent to meet current demands.
