TLDR: Hindustan Zinc has launched an advanced AI-powered automation tool to significantly optimize the use of critical consumables like zinc dust, sodium sulphate, lime, and cement across its three major smelting units. Developed in collaboration with Ripik AI, this solution leverages machine learning and historical data to enable predictive and adaptive process optimization, reducing manual intervention and enhancing overall production efficiency and sustainability.
Udaipur, India – Hindustan Zinc, a leading integrated zinc producer, has announced the implementation of a cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered automation tool designed to revolutionize the optimization of consumables across its manufacturing facilities. This strategic move is set to significantly boost production efficiency and reduce manual intervention in key processes.
The newly introduced AI system utilizes sophisticated recommendation models and machine learning algorithms, trained on extensive historical data, to enable predictive and adaptive process optimization. The primary objective is to fine-tune the usage of critical consumables such as zinc dust, sodium sulphate, lime, and cement, ensuring optimal material consumption and consistent product quality.
This innovative solution was developed in collaboration with Ripik AI, an enterprise AI solutions startup selected through Vedanta’s global corporate accelerator program, Vedanta Spark. The partnership underscores Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to embracing advanced technologies for operational excellence.
The AI-driven system has been seamlessly integrated with real-time data analytics and IT-OT (Information Technology-Operational Technology) systems. It aggregates data from various sources, including Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), to provide real-time insights for faster and more informed decision-making.
The deployment spans across Hindustan Zinc’s three major smelting units: the Chanderiya Smelting Complex in Chittorgarh, the Dariba Smelting Complex in Rajsamand, and the Zinc Smelter Debari in Udaipur. This widespread implementation highlights the company’s comprehensive approach to digital transformation across its core operations.
Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc Limited, emphasized the company’s vision, stating, “Leveraging technological innovation and automation is central to our vision of becoming a truly intelligent enterprise. Our proactive embrace of emerging technologies empowers us to engineer disruptive solutions and remain ahead of the industry curve.”
