The award was presented during the Aqua Nor 2025 exhibition in Trondheim, a pivotal event for the global aquaculture industry.
The winning technology from GreenFox Marine integrates medical ultrasound with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to provide an efficient and precise method for evaluating fish. This system is designed to be seamlessly incorporated into existing vaccination lines, allowing for simultaneous sorting by gender and various health parameters in a single, rapid process. The company’s invention marks a significant milestone as the first operational device to combine automatic gender sorting with AI-based ultrasound diagnostics.

The jury, comprising industry experts Kari Lisbeth Fjørtoft (Hofseth International AS), Bjørn Kåre Steinnes (Innovation Norway), Kjell Maroni (FHF), and Jan Henrik Sandberg (Norwegian Fishermen’s Association), chaired by Oddbjørn Rygvold Rødsten, meticulously reviewed a record number of applications before nominating the three finalists. The final decision rested with the board of the Nor-Fishing Foundation.
