Geotab’s AI-Powered Ace Assistant Revolutionizes Fleet Safety and Driver Performance

TLDR: Geotab’s Generative AI assistant, Geotab Ace, is transforming fleet management by providing actionable safety insights and improving driver performance. Fleet managers are heavily utilizing the AI tool for questions related to driver safety, indicating a shift towards a coaching mindset. The platform processes billions of data points daily, offering significant gains in productivity and insight, and is supported by a majority of drivers who welcome technology for performance improvement.

ATLANTA – Geotab Inc., a global leader in connected vehicle and asset tracking solutions, has highlighted the profound impact of its Generative AI (GenAI) assistant, Geotab Ace, on enhancing driver performance and overall fleet safety. The company recently revealed that safety-related queries dominate the interactions with Geotab Ace, underscoring fleet managers’ primary focus on improving driver behavior and reducing risks.

Since its early adopter program launched in May 2024, Geotab Ace has rapidly expanded its reach, now being utilized by over 1,500 companies. The AI assistant is designed to process vast quantities of telematics data swiftly, converting complex information into actionable insights for fleet managers. This capability significantly reduces the time required to gain critical understanding of fleet operations.

An analysis of the most common prompts submitted to Geotab Ace over the past 12 months clearly illustrates the emphasis on safety. The top five questions posed by fleet managers include: ‘Who are my safest drivers?’, ‘Which drivers have the most improved safety record?’, ‘Which drivers speed the most?’, ‘What were my least utilized vehicles last month?’, and ‘List all devices not communicating?’. This pattern of inquiry suggests that fleet managers are not merely identifying risks but are actively tracking progress and fostering a coaching environment to encourage safer driving habits through consistent feedback and recognition.

Mike Branch, Geotab’s Vice President of Data & Analytics, commented on the success of the platform, stating, “With Geotab Ace, we’re seeing practical, immediate gains in productivity and insight. What’s striking is the quality of prompts – fleet managers are asking smart, targeted questions, and they’re doing it confidently. That’s only possible because Geotab Ace is built on a trusted, structured data foundation. This is a perfect example of where AI can be put to real use. It’s not about replacing people; but rather equipping teams with better tools.”

The adoption of such technology is also well-received by drivers themselves. A recent Geotab survey indicated strong support for new technologies aimed at improving driving performance and safety, with 68% of North American drivers and 69% of European drivers surveyed expressing their approval. This aligns with Geotab’s proactive approach to leveraging innovation for enhanced safety and driver welfare.
