TLDR: Gaia Labs has successfully raised $20 million in combined seed and Series A funding to accelerate its mission of building a user-owned, decentralized AI ecosystem. The capital will be used to scale its open infrastructure, enable cross-chain integrations, and expand its offerings to mobile, including the development of an “AI-native” smartphone designed for on-device inference and data ownership.
New York, July 24, 2025 – Gaia Labs, a pioneering force in decentralized artificial intelligence, today announced the successful closure of its seed and Series A funding rounds, accumulating a total of $20 million. This significant investment is set to propel the company’s vision of creating a user-owned AI ecosystem, scaling its open infrastructure, facilitating cross-chain integrations, and extending decentralized intelligence to mobile platforms.
The funding round saw strong participation from leading investors, with ByteTrade/SIG Capital (Susquehanna) and Mirana/Mantle Eco Fund co-leading the Series A. Additional contributions came from a diverse group of participants including EVM Capital, Taisu Ventures, NGC Ventures, Selini Capital, Presto, Stake Capital, FactBlock, G20, Amber, Cogitent Ventures, Paper Ventures, Republic Crypto, Outlier Ventures, MoonPay, BitGo, and Consensys Mesh, among others.
Gaia Labs distinguishes itself from centralized AI platforms by operating its infrastructure across an open mesh of independently managed nodes. This architecture grants developers and users unprecedented control over the development, deployment, and monetization of AI intelligence, moving away from the proprietary models, data, and governance typically held by large corporations.
Matt Wright, CEO of Gaia Labs, emphasized the company’s core philosophy, stating, “We believe AI inference should be an open resource, not controlled by a handful of corporations. This funding lets us scale the infrastructure and ‘internet of knowledge’ that make user-owned intelligence real.”
The investment follows a period of remarkable growth for Gaia Labs. Its decentralized AI infrastructure currently supports over 700,000 active nodes and has processed more than 17 trillion inferences to date. The network spans thousands of App-Chain domains and integrated blockchain ecosystems, supported by a robust community of over 1 million wallets.
A key initiative for Gaia Labs with this new funding is its expansion into the mobile sector. The company plans to launch one of the first consumer smartphones designed to natively run Gaia’s decentralized AI. Built on Galaxy S25 Edge hardware and developed with technology from a leading global manufacturer, the Gaia AI Phone will enable on-device model inference, ensuring local data ownership and the functionality of offline agents without reliance on centralized cloud infrastructure. A limited release of the device is anticipated later this year, with an early-access waitlist now open.
Takashi Hayashida, Managing Partner at Taisu Ventures, commented on their investment, “Gaia is building critical infrastructure for a more open and equitable AI future. We’re excited to support a team redefining what user-owned intelligence means.”

Gaia Labs is dedicated to building the backbone for decentralized, censorship-resistant intelligence, where AI is not only open and verifiable but also owned and governed by its users. The company serves as the primary developer of the underlying Gaia network, which aims to redefine how intelligence is built, distributed, and owned through its peer-to-peer infrastructure, ensuring transparency, privacy, and resilience across a global network of independent nodes.
