Droidrun Secures €2.1 Million Pre-Seed Funding to Advance Mobile AI Agent Technology

TLDR: Berlin-based Droidrun has successfully raised €2.1 million in pre-seed funding. This investment will fuel the expansion of its mobile-native AI agent infrastructure, which enables AI agents to control Android and iOS devices and applications through natural language commands, aiming to revolutionize mobile interactions and automate complex workflows.

Berlin-based Droidrun, a pioneering company in mobile AI agent technology, has announced the successful closure of a €2.1 million pre-seed funding round. The investment is earmarked to significantly scale its mobile-native AI agent infrastructure, which is designed to empower AI agents to seamlessly control Android and iOS devices and their applications using natural language commands. This development marks a crucial step towards a future where automated workflows on mobile devices could potentially surpass human interactions.

The company envisions a transformative shift in mobile engagement, moving beyond static app icons and manual navigation to ‘agentic UIs’ that intelligently adapt and respond, or even entirely new operating systems built around AI agents. This future necessitates seamless access for agents to mobile systems, bridging human intent with digital action, a gap Droidrun aims to fill with its foundational infrastructure.

Christian Ninstel, co-founder and CEO of Droidrun, highlighted the company’s unique focus: ‘Everyone is building AI agents for desktop and browsers. But mobile, where most people actually spend their time, was completely ignored. We didn’t just build another mobile automation tool. We built the first AI agent that works reliably on mobile apps.’ The genesis of Droidrun stemmed from the founding team’s prior startup experience, where they identified a critical void in production-ready and reliable mobile AI agent solutions.

Since its launch just 10 weeks ago, Droidrun’s open-source framework has experienced rapid adoption and viral growth. It garnered over 900 developer sign-ups within 24 hours, accumulated more than 3,300 GitHub stars, and has been recognized as the fastest-growing mobile agent project. The framework is currently being integrated into major AI platforms, enabling hundreds of developers to build mobile-capable agents for the first time. Droidrun’s technology has also achieved the top performance rating on the AndroidWorld benchmark, outperforming existing mobile automation solutions.

The newly secured funding will primarily accelerate the development of Droidrun’s cloud platform. This platform will enable enterprises to deploy mobile AI agents at scale, while the company remains committed to maintaining its successful open-source framework that has driven significant community adoption. The funding round saw participation from investors including Merantix Capital and SixtyDegree Capital.
