Companies are substantially increasing their investment in artificial intelligence (AI) training for mid- and senior-level employees, according to a new study by Great Learning for Business, the enterprise training division of Great Learning. The report highlights a strategic shift by organizations to empower their experienced workforce to effectively manage and leverage AI-driven changes within the workplace.
The findings for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) reveal a dramatic rise in training initiatives. The share of mid-level employee training more than doubled, climbing to 35% from 15% in FY24. Similarly, the demand for senior-level training also saw a year-on-year increase of over 100%. This surge underscores a growing recognition among businesses that future growth is contingent not only on attracting new talent but also on cultivating resilient leaders capable of guiding teams through technological and market disruptions.
The report further indicates that the expansion of technical upskilling is now extending beyond conventional IT departments. While the IT/ITeS sector remains a primary driver, with nearly 48% of organizations prioritizing AI and Generative AI (GenAI) training, other industries are rapidly catching up. Manufacturing & Supply Chain accounts for 14% of these organizations, followed by BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) and Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals, both at 10% each. This diversification demonstrates a broader industry-wide adoption and integration of AI technologies.
