Entro Security Bolsters NHI Platform with Advanced Observability for Agentic AI, Addressing ‘Shadow Agent’ Risks

TLDR: Entro Security has expanded its Non-Human Identity (NHI) Security Platform to include AI Agents Discovery and Observability, providing organizations with enhanced visibility, governance, and control over autonomous AI agents. This move aims to mitigate the security risks posed by the rapid proliferation of ‘shadow agents’ within enterprise environments.

Entro Security announced on October 1, 2025, a significant expansion of its NHI Security Platform, integrating AI Agents Discovery and Observability capabilities. This new offering is designed to provide enterprises with critical visibility and control over the burgeoning landscape of agentic AI, often referred to as ‘shadow agents,’ which are increasingly operating autonomously within organizational systems.

The rise of agentic AI is fundamentally reshaping enterprise operations, yet it simultaneously creates a complex security challenge by rapidly multiplying identities, permissions, and access paths. Traditional security measures struggle to keep pace with this proliferation, leading to potential blind spots and an expanded attack surface. Entro’s latest innovation directly addresses this by enabling organizations to discover, govern, and secure every AI agent across their environment.

Unlike simple chatbots, AI agents function as non-human identities (NHIs), independently executing tasks, calling APIs, and utilizing embedded credentials to access data and tools. The adoption of frameworks like the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is accelerating the deployment of these agents, often beyond the direct oversight of security teams. This unchecked growth can lead to hidden access paths and excessive privileges, making it difficult to ascertain who—or what—is in control.

Itzik Alvas, CEO and co-founder of Entro Security, highlighted the challenge: “MCP and similar standards have made it easier than ever for AI agents to proliferate – often beyond what security teams can track.” He further explained Entro’s approach: “Entro discovers AI agents using logs and APIs to cloud and SaaS services that offer AI agents, scanning workstations for AI-related binaries and configuration files, and inspecting source code and collaboration tools for API usage and MCP configuration files, ensuring no shadow agents go undetected.” This comprehensive discovery mechanism, tied to telemetry across cloud, endpoint, and collaboration tools, ensures that even transient or experimental agents are brought into view.

Entro’s new capability builds upon its existing strengths in secrets and NHI security. By extending its discovery engine, the platform helps teams find, track, and monitor AI agents in real-time. It meticulously links each agent to the credentials it uses, the permissions it holds, and the human user responsible for its creation, thereby maintaining clear accountability amidst increasing automation. Alvas noted that assigning ownership is a significant hurdle for enterprises deploying AI agents, stating, “Customers struggle to assign ownership because AI agents often lack metadata and are deployed across fragmented environments. Entro solves this by automatically correlating agent activity with human users through logs, code commits, and device telemetry, then enforces ownership via policies, alerts, and automation.”
