NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Elysian, an innovative AI-native third-party administrator (TPA) specializing in commercial insurance, today announced the successful closure of a $6 million seed funding round. The investment was spearheaded by Portage, with significant participation from American Family Ventures and TenOneTen Ventures. This substantial capital injection is earmarked to accelerate Elysian’s go-to-market strategies, bolster customer onboarding processes, and scale its advanced technology platform and delivery operations.
Founded by Grace Hanson, a seasoned executive and former Chief Claims Officer at prominent insurance firms including Allied World, Homesite Insurance, Hiscox, and Hippo Insurance, Elysian was established with a vision to fundamentally rethink claims handling. Hanson brings a unique blend of legal expertise and senior claims leadership, which has been instrumental in shaping a product strategy that aligns modern technological tools with the intricate realities of high-stakes claims environments.
“We built Elysian by rethinking claims handling from the ground up – designing a hybrid intelligence system where AI manages the ‘messy middle’ and adjusters can focus on the human parts,” stated Grace Hanson, Founder and CEO of Elysian. “Our approach is shaped by firsthand industry insight and designed to raise the standard for modern claims services.”
Elysian’s core offerings include end-to-end claims handling and Dynamic Claim Review (DCR). Both services are powered by proprietary AI technology designed to collaborate with adjusters, rather than replace them. For active claims, the system provides crucial coverage and liability insights and generates customized communications, thereby enabling adjusters to concentrate on critical decision-making. The Dynamic Claim Review (DCR) service offers expert-led analysis across entire claims portfolios, promising faster and more in-depth reviews compared to conventional audit methods.
Industry leaders have expressed strong support for Elysian’s innovative approach. Ricky Lai, General Partner at Portage, commented, “Elysian is bringing purpose-built innovation to the core of commercial claims operations. Their platform provides adjusters with the tools to deliver better outcomes, and we’re excited to support the team in their next phase of growth.”
Minnie Ingersoll, Partner at TenOneTen, highlighted the timing of Elysian’s solution, noting, “Digital TPAs have long been the goal, but delivering this product wasn’t possible before modern AI.” She added, “Elysian stood out to us by tackling complexity from the outset and building systems that reflect how adjusters work.”
Kyle Beatty, Managing Director at American Family Ventures, emphasized the transformative potential of AI in the insurance sector. “We strongly believe the full category of claims administration will be transformed by modern software, predictive modeling, and generative AI. We are excited to support Elysian as they modernize one of the most challenging and highest value segments of commercial claims.”
