DEWA Cultivates Youth AI Prowess with Microsoft Copilot Training

TLDR: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently hosted a workshop on World Youth Skills Day 2025, in collaboration with Microsoft, to enhance the AI skills of 30 young employees. The training focused on effective prompt writing for Microsoft 365 Copilot, a generative AI tool, reinforcing DEWA’s commitment to digital transformation and youth empowerment.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is actively investing in the future workforce by enhancing the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of its young employees. On World Youth Skills Day 2025, observed under the theme ‘Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills,’ DEWA’s Youth Council, in partnership with Microsoft, organized a specialized interactive workshop.

The workshop saw the participation of 30 young DEWA employees, who delved into the advanced functionalities of Microsoft 365 Copilot. This cutting-edge technology, which leverages generative AI, was adopted by DEWA in January 2024, making it one of the first utilities globally to integrate such an innovative tool into its operations. Participants gained practical knowledge in optimizing Copilot’s use, including techniques for intelligent summarization, automatic content creation, and modification. The session also covered key phases of strategic collaboration between DEWA and Microsoft in the realms of AI and generative AI.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, underscored the strategic importance of such initiatives. He stated, “In line with the vision of our wise leadership and the National Youth Agenda 2031, we are committed to building a generation capable of shaping the future. We remain proactive in equipping DEWA’s youth with the latest AI innovations and in refining their skills in this field. We support young people in playing a vital role in accelerating digital transformation, empowering them to move from being mere users of advanced technology to becoming active partners by investing in it and developing innovative solutions that enhance government work. We are also keen to strengthen their resilience and ability to use AI tools with the highest levels of awareness, ensuring the accuracy of input data and the evaluation of AI-generated outputs, enabling them to make informed decisions that enhance performance, productivity and creativity in the workplace.”
