TLDR: Broadcom announced robust third-quarter 2025 financial results, surpassing revenue and earnings estimates, primarily fueled by a significant 63% year-over-year surge in AI-related semiconductor sales. The company also provided an optimistic fourth-quarter outlook, forecasting revenue above Wall Street expectations, and revealed a new $10 billion deal for advanced AI chips, reinforcing its pivotal role in the artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure sectors.
Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO), a prominent global leader in semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, has reported exceptional financial performance for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025, ending August 3, 2025. The company not only exceeded its own guidance but also surpassed Wall Street’s consensus estimates, largely attributed to an unprecedented demand for its artificial intelligence (AI) chips.
For Q3 FY2025, Broadcom posted a GAAP total revenue of $15.952 billion, marking a substantial 22% increase year-over-year. This figure comfortably beat the internal guidance of approximately $15.8 billion. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share reached $1.69, outperforming market expectations of $1.66 per share. The company also achieved a record-high free cash flow of $7.0 billion (non-GAAP), representing a 46.5% jump from the previous year, and adjusted EBITDA climbed to $10.7 billion, indicating strong operating profitability.
The standout performer was the Semiconductor Solutions segment, which saw its revenue surge by 26% year-over-year to $9.17 billion. Within this, AI-related semiconductor revenue experienced a massive 63% year-over-year increase, reaching $5.2 billion. This growth is driven by tech giants such as Google, Amazon, Meta, and NVIDIA, who are heavily investing in data centers and machine learning applications, solidifying Broadcom’s position as a critical enabler of the digital revolution.
Further bolstering market confidence, Broadcom announced a new $10 billion deal to supply advanced AI chips to an undisclosed global client. This significant contract is expected to positively impact the company’s results in 2026, potentially pushing its stock to new record levels.
Broadcom’s strategic focus encompasses two core areas: semiconductor design and infrastructure software platforms. Its semiconductor products are integral to networking, wireless connectivity, broadband, storage, and custom accelerators for modern data centers. The company has also expanded its software footprint, notably through the $69 billion acquisition of VMware in November 2023, which contributed to the Infrastructure Software segment’s robust revenue of $6.786 billion ($6.8 billion), a 17% year-over-year increase. This segment provides high-margin, recurring revenue, reducing reliance on one-time software license sales.
Looking ahead, Broadcom has issued optimistic guidance for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025, projecting revenue of approximately $17.4 billion. This forecast surpasses Wall Street estimates of $17.01 billion and implies a 24% year-over-year growth. The company anticipates AI semiconductor revenue to reach $6.2 billion in Q4, marking the 11th consecutive quarter of growth in this sector. Adjusted EBITDA is expected to remain strong at 67% of revenue.
Investors will be closely monitoring several factors, including the sustained growth and product mix in AI-related semiconductor sales, potential volatility due to customer concentration (approximately 40% of FY2024 revenue came from the top five clients), the ongoing integration of the VMware platform, and the company’s efforts to reduce its debt following the acquisition.
Following the earnings announcement and the new deal, Broadcom’s stock saw a 3% rise in after-hours trading, with analysts from JP Morgan, Citi, and Goldman Sachs expressing strong positive outlooks, with target prices reaching up to $330.
Despite its successes, Broadcom is currently facing a lawsuit from Tesco in the UK, seeking $135 million in damages related to changes in VMware licenses post-acquisition. However, this legal challenge is not expected to impact the core growth trajectory driven by artificial intelligence.
