Fujitsu Forges Strategic Alliance with 1Finity and Arrcus to Bolster AI Data Center Networking in US and Globally

TLDR: Fujitsu Limited, in collaboration with its subsidiary 1Finity Inc. and hyperscale networking software company Arrcus Inc., has announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing next-generation network infrastructure for the AI era. This alliance will focus on delivering innovative routing and switching solutions to address the exponential growth in AI-related data traffic, with a primary focus on expanding into the US, Japan, and the global market. The initiative includes a US pilot program for advanced optical networks and leverages Arrcus’s software-defined networking capabilities to reduce total cost of ownership for data center operators.

Fujitsu Limited, a global leader in information and communication technology, has officially announced a pivotal strategic partnership with its subsidiary, 1Finity Inc., and Arrcus Inc., a prominent hyperscale networking software company. This alliance is set to significantly strengthen the development and deployment of next-generation network solutions specifically designed for the burgeoning Artificial Intelligence (AI) era, with a strategic emphasis on the US, Japan, and broader global markets.

The driving force behind this collaboration is the unprecedented surge in AI-related data traffic. As AI applications become more sophisticated and pervasive across society, the demand for robust and seamless network infrastructure connecting data centers, cloud platforms, 5G/6G networks, and edge environments has escalated exponentially.

Arrcus Inc. brings to the partnership its advanced routing and switching platforms, which are built on cutting-edge Ethernet networking technology. Their Network Operating System (OS) software is a key component, offering unified operation across diverse environments, from edge to multi-cloud, and enabling faster deployment with centralized management. A significant advantage of Arrcus’s technology is its hardware independence, allowing it to run on generic “white box” components, which can lead to substantial cost savings. Customers implementing this software have reportedly achieved over a 40% reduction in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across various use cases.

Under the terms of the agreement, 1Finity Inc. will serve as a business partner, offering the full spectrum of Arrcus’s solutions. 1Finity will also play a crucial role in jointly developing go-to-market strategies to facilitate global expansion, with a particular focus on network operators, enterprise customers, and data center operators in Japan. The collaboration extends beyond the Fujitsu Group, aiming to build comprehensive total solutions that encompass network design, maintenance, and operation through managed service partnerships.

Fujitsu’s role involves leveraging its extensive global customer base to provide flexible and scalable solutions that can rapidly adapt to evolving market demands. The company plans to integrate Arrcus’s business model with its own strengths in AI services and computing technologies, positioning itself as a leading next-generation infrastructure service provider for the global market.

Shekar Ayyar, Chairman & CEO of Arrcus Inc., emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “Flexible networks that combine innovation in software, silicon, and optics are of critical importance for AI data centers and 5G/6G connected inference edges.” He added, “We are super excited to announce our strategic partnership with Fujitsu and 1Finity to bring our combined strengths for Fujitsu internal use as well as for enterprises, service providers, and cloud/neo-cloud operators worldwide.”

Masaaki Moribayashi, Corporate Executive Officer, Fujitsu Limited, and Representative Director, CEO, 1Finity Inc., also commented on the partnership, highlighting the collective vision.

In a related development, Fujitsu is reportedly launching a US pilot program for an advanced optical network specifically designed for data centers, as reported by Nikkei. This initiative underscores Fujitsu’s commitment to expanding its presence and capabilities in the US data center networking sector for AI.
