Bordeaux Bar Forges Alliance with Local AI Startup Haiku for Legal Transformation

TLDR: The Bordeaux Bar has announced a strategic partnership with Haiku, a local generative AI startup, to integrate a contextualized legal AI solution for its 2,200 lawyers. This initiative aims to streamline daily legal tasks, enhance knowledge management, and champion regional technological innovation within the legal sector. The collaboration, effective September 1st, will provide Bordeaux lawyers with preferential access to Haiku’s intelligent legal assistant, which indexes internal documents, aggregates external sources, and offers drafting suggestions.

In a significant move towards modernizing legal practice, the Bordeaux Bar has entered into a strategic partnership with Haiku, a Bordeaux-based startup specializing in generative artificial intelligence. This collaboration, announced on July 21, 2025, underscores the Bar’s commitment to integrating advanced technological solutions while fostering local innovation within the region. The primary objective is to simplify the daily tasks of over 2,200 lawyers by providing them with a contextualized legal AI assistant.

Haiku, founded in 2023 and supported by Village by CA Aquitaine, boasts a team of 18 professionals dedicated to developing an intelligent legal assistant. This AI-powered tool is designed to index and leverage all internal documents of a law firm, offering a natural language interface that enables lawyers to efficiently retrieve, synthesize, and reuse accumulated knowledge from their cases. Beyond internal memory, the solution also aggregates external legal sources, cross-references data, and provides drafting suggestions or contextualized legal acts. The service operates on a subscription-based SaaS model and is already utilized by more than 40 firms and 1,000 independent lawyers.

This partnership marks a crucial step for the Bordeaux legal ecosystem. Starting September 1, Bordeaux lawyers will gain access to Haiku’s solution at a preferential rate, with the Bar covering a portion of the cost to ensure broader accessibility for its members. This initiative not only facilitates the adoption of cutting-edge technology but also symbolizes a strong commitment to supporting local innovation and providing Haiku with a valuable real-world testing ground.
