The agreement was formally signed by the state government’s Information Technology Department.
Under the terms of the understanding, Google Cloud will extend its technical cooperation to various departments within the Assam government. This collaboration will focus on developing robust AI capabilities, which are expected to significantly enhance the performance of government officers and accelerate the delivery of services to the populace. A cornerstone of this initiative is the establishment of an ‘Artificial Intelligence Excellence Centre’ (AI Centre of Excellence) within the state. This centre will play a pivotal role in making Assam’s administration system more public-oriented and effective through the strategic application of artificial intelligence.
Science & Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta emphasized the state’s ambitious vision, stating, “The Assam government is focusing on the development of technical capabilities and infrastructure to establish the State as ‘India’s Al Hub’ in the North East region to help provide transparency and speedy public services to the citizens. As a historic step in this direction, today the State government’s Information Technology Department signed an important agreement.” This statement underscores Assam’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to foster regional leadership in AI and improve the quality of life for its residents.
