A groundbreaking AI-led reimagination of the ancient Indian epic, ‘Mahabharat,’ is set to captivate audiences with its digital premiere on WAVES OTT on October 25, 2025. This will be followed by its television debut on Doordarshan every Sunday at 11:00 AM, commencing November 2, 2025. The series is a collaborative effort between Collective Media Network and India’s public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati, marking a significant milestone in blending traditional narratives with cutting-edge technology.
The ‘AI-reimagined Mahabharat’ leverages advanced artificial intelligence tools to reconstruct the vast universe of the epic. This includes its intricate characters, expansive battlefields, profound emotions, and complex moral dilemmas, all presented with cinematic grandeur and striking realism. The producers aim to deliver a storytelling experience that has never been offered before, making the epic accessible and immersive for today’s generation.
Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, emphasized the cultural significance of this initiative. He stated, “Prasar Bharati has been a constant presence in every Indian household by showcasing tales of national and cultural importance. The airing of the original Mahabharat during the lockdown was a clear signal of the storytelling power of these narratives that bring together different age groups.” Dwivedi added, “Partnering on this AI-led reimagining allows audiences to experience one of India’s greatest epics anew — honouring tradition while embracing technology. It is an expression of Vikas and Virasat coming together in modern broadcasting.”
Vijay Subramaniam, Founder and Group CEO of the Collective Artists Network, also shared his vision: “Like millions of Indians, I grew up watching the classic Mahabharat on television every Sunday. It was an experience that shaped my imagination and my connection to our culture. With Mahabharat, our hope is to give today’s generation a similar touchstone that feels as immersive and unifying as it did for us, but told through the possibilities of today’s technology.”
