TLDR: Developer Indragie Karunaratne has launched ‘Context,’ a native macOS application that was predominantly built by artificial intelligence. An impressive 95% of the app’s over 20,000 lines of code were generated by Anthropic’s Claude Code, showcasing the significant advancements in AI-assisted software development.
In a groundbreaking demonstration of artificial intelligence’s growing capabilities in software engineering, developer Indragie Karunaratne has unveiled ‘Context,’ a new native macOS application. What makes ‘Context’ particularly notable is that approximately 95% of its extensive codebase, which exceeds 20,000 lines, was autonomously generated by Anthropic’s Claude Code.
Karunaratne revealed that his personal contribution to the project amounted to only about 1,000 lines of code, with the vast majority handled by the AI. This achievement highlights the rapid progress in AI coding tools, paralleling the advancements seen in AI-driven image and video generation.
‘Context’ serves a specialized function: it is designed for testing and debugging MCP (Multi-Agent Communication Protocol) servers. These servers are crucial for enabling AI agents to interact seamlessly with platforms and tools traditionally operated by humans. The application’s development process, as detailed by Karunaratne in a comprehensive blog post, saw Claude Code agentically manage nearly every aspect of the software creation. This included writing code in Swift and SwiftUI, executing builds, identifying and correcting compiler errors, and even automating the generation of release scripts.

Anthropic’s Claude models have been recognized for their prowess in code generation over the past year, distinguishing themselves in the competitive landscape of AI-assisted development. While other companies have recently narrowed the gap, Anthropic has continued to innovate, notably with the launch of Claude Code, its dedicated coding environment. This development underscores a significant shift in how software can be conceptualized, developed, and deployed, with AI taking on an increasingly central role in the coding pipeline.
