Andhra Pradesh Seeks AI Singapore’s Collaboration for Advanced Innovation Centers

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his visit to Singapore on July 29, 2025, held a significant meeting with Professor Mohan Kankanahalli, Deputy Executive Chairman of AI Singapore. The primary objective of this meeting was to secure cooperation for setting up advanced Artificial Intelligence research and innovation centers within Andhra Pradesh. This initiative is a cornerstone of the state’s broader strategy to emerge as a prominent AI hub in India.

During the deliberations, Chief Minister Naidu emphasized the critical importance of fostering partnerships between AI Singapore and universities, as well as various research institutions across Andhra Pradesh. He proposed the implementation of comprehensive AI training programs, exchange initiatives, and skill development modules specifically designed for students throughout the state. The discussions extensively covered the potential applications of AI in key sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and public services, highlighting the transformative impact AI could have on these areas.

Both Chief Minister Naidu and Professor Kankanahalli explored numerous opportunities in technology promotion, deep tech advancements, and AI innovation. This collaboration is expected to pave the way for cutting-edge research and development in artificial intelligence, contributing significantly to the technological landscape of Andhra Pradesh.

In addition to the AI-focused discussions, Chief Minister Naidu also met with NG Lin Wilin, Senior Vice President of SIA Engineering. This meeting addressed the development of upcoming airports in Andhra Pradesh and sought cooperation for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services. Naidu briefed the SIA representatives on the state’s newly introduced industry-friendly policies and showcased the vast opportunities available in the aviation sector, inviting the company to explore potential investments in Andhra Pradesh. SIA Engineering responded positively, assuring that a delegation would be dispatched to the state soon to further investigate these opportunities. The Andhra Pradesh government is particularly keen on establishing a world-class MRO center, leveraging the expertise of companies like SIA Engineering, with Visakhapatnam and Krishnapatnam identified as potential locations for this venture.
