1Kosmos Secures $57 Million in Series B Funding to Drive Global Expansion and AI-Powered Identity Security

TLDR: 1Kosmos, a leader in identity verification and passwordless authentication, has successfully raised $57 million in Series B funding, bringing its total funding to over $72 million. The investment, led by Forgepoint Capital and Origami’s Oquirrh Ventures, will fuel product innovation, accelerate global market expansion across North America, EMEA, and APAC, and deepen technology integrations. The company’s platform leverages AI-powered biometrics and verified identity to combat rising impersonation threats and enable secure, passwordless access for enterprises, government agencies, and individuals.

Iselin, N.J. – August 12, 2025 – 1Kosmos, a pioneering force in unifying identity proofing and passwordless authentication, today announced it has secured $57 million in Series B funding. This significant investment includes a $10 million line of credit from Bridge Bank, elevating the company’s total funding to more than $72 million, following a prior $15 million Series A round.

The funding round was spearheaded by prominent cybersecurity investors Forgepoint Capital and Origami’s Oquirrh Ventures. Additional participation came from notable entities including Craig Abod, Founder and President of Carahsoft; NextEra Energy Ventures; Gula Tech Adventures; and the 1Kosmos management team.

This fresh capital is earmarked to meet the escalating demand for identity-first security solutions amidst a surge in sophisticated impersonation threats. 1Kosmos plans to allocate the funds to advance product innovation, accelerate its global market expansion by scaling direct and channel sales across North America, EMEA, and APAC, and deepen technology integrations with leading Identity and Access Management (IAM), Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), and zero trust platforms. Hemen Vimadalal, CEO of 1Kosmos, detailed the allocation, stating, “Half of it is going to be going toward go-to-market, product marketing, sales, expanding in newer countries. And the other half is really around research and development. Because we are taking an AI-first approach, most of our products and capabilities are going to be built on AI.”

1Kosmos’s platform is designed to combat modern cyber threats, such as those seen in recent high-profile attacks like Scattered Spider and instances of North Korean ‘shadow IT employees,’ which exploit account recovery mechanisms through social engineering and fake credentials. The company’s solution leverages live biometrics, verified identity, and phishing-resistant, passwordless authentication to prevent compromise before it starts. “Identity has become the first step in the kill chain,” said Hemen Vimadalal. “This investment allows us to strengthen the proactive controls organizations need to prevent impersonation-based attacks—whether it’s a sophisticated hacking group or a state-sponsored developer hiding in plain sight. 1Kosmos identity verification is the only practical solution that can be quickly deployed in a matter of hours to effectively combat this threat.”

The company’s commitment to an AI-first approach is central to its strategy. Vimadalal elaborated on their use of AI, explaining, “Using biometrics with a lot of AI to identify behavior of a person – how he types, what a face looks like, is it a deepfake, what his contextual patterns are on the internet.” This advanced methodology allows 1Kosmos to move from probabilistic models to deterministic verification with cryptographic proof, ensuring the authenticated individual is indeed the enrolled user.

The investment arrives at a critical juncture for the identity verification market, which is experiencing significant growth driven by an increase in AI-enabled fraud. The global identity verification market is projected to grow from 75 billion verifications in 2024 to 86 billion in 2025, with revenue expected to reach $21.8 billion by 2028. This growth is fueled by a 12% annual surge in identity fraud cases since 2020, with fraudsters now capable of creating fake IDs for as little as $15. The financial sector, in particular, has seen a rise in deepfake incidents, highlighting how AI tools have made sophisticated impersonation attacks more accessible.

Ernie Bio, Managing Director of Forgepoint Capital, emphasized the company’s foundational mission: “The mission at 1Kosmos since its inception has stayed remarkably focused on providing individuals with a secure digital identity, one they control and use to prevent identity fraud when accessing digital services.”
