KnowBe4 Bolsters Cybersecurity Defenses with Expanded Agentic AI Capabilities

TLDR: KnowBe4 has significantly enhanced its Human Risk Management (HRM+) platform by deploying additional agentic AI capabilities, including Artificial Intelligence Defense Agents (AIDA) and PhishML Insights. These advancements aim to strengthen customer defenses against evolving cyber threats, leveraging a vast dataset to reduce human-centric risks like phishing.

LAS VEGAS, August 6, 2025 – KnowBe4, a global leader in human risk management (HRM), announced the deployment of enhanced agentic AI capabilities within its HRM+ platform, designed to fortify customers’ defenses against sophisticated cyber threats. The announcement was made during the Black Hat USA Conference.

The company’s HRM+ platform currently features six AI agents in the market, with plans to integrate an additional six by the end of 2025. A cornerstone of this expansion is AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Defense Agents), an advanced AI-driven product that merges human expertise with artificial intelligence to provide organizations with a comprehensive view of their human risk landscape and the tools to mitigate it effectively.

Powered by the SmartRisk Agent, AIDA leverages an extensive framework of 316 indicators influencing 37 factors across seven critical knowledge areas. This allows for the automation of targeted actions tailored to each organization’s unique threat environment, enabling security teams to operate more efficiently, deliver smarter training, and reinforce their overall defenses. KnowBe4’s agentic AI capabilities are built upon an industry-leading dataset, comprising simulated phishing and people-centric cybersecurity defense measures collected over 15 years from more than 13 million global users.

Bryan Palma, CEO of KnowBe4, emphasized the strategic importance of AI in the current cybersecurity landscape, stating, “One of the reasons I joined KnowBe4 is because of the company’s AI leadership. Our customers are engaged in an AI arms race with cybercriminals. We are expanding the agentic capabilities of our HRM+ platform to allow defenders to outpace attackers with smarter, data-driven defenses.”

Customer success stories underscore the impact of these new capabilities. Bryan Perkola, Senior Vice President of Information Security at First Community Credit Union in Houston, shared his experience: “We’ve recently started using the AIDA products in our defenses. So being able to show how AI is actually influencing what we’re doing with the defenses now versus the threats has been very significant. I couldn’t imagine switching to anything else.” First Community Credit Union notably reduced its Phish-prone Percentage (PPP) to a near-perfect one percent by leveraging KnowBe4’s HRM+ platform and AIDA.

In addition to AIDA, PhishML Insights is now available as part of PhishER+. This AI capability empowers InfoSec teams to gain deeper insights into emerging attack patterns. It allows for the setting of customized confidence thresholds for email threat classification and provides detailed explanations for why each message is categorized as clean, spam, or a threat.
