TLDR: Zoom is significantly upgrading its AI Companion feature by integrating NVIDIA Nemotron open technologies. This collaboration introduces a hybrid language model architecture, combining Zoom’s proprietary Small Language Models (SLMs) with a new 49-billion-parameter Large Language Model (LLM) based on NVIDIA Nemotron. The aim is to deliver faster, more intelligent, and customizable AI solutions for enterprise collaboration, particularly in data-sensitive sectors like finance, healthcare, and government, while ensuring optimized cost efficiency and enhanced productivity.
Zoom Communications, Inc. has announced a strategic expansion of its AI Companion feature through a collaboration with NVIDIA, integrating NVIDIA Nemotron open technologies to foster faster, smarter, and more secure enterprise collaboration. This initiative, unveiled around October 31, 2025, marks a significant step in Zoom’s commitment to delivering advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to its business clientele.
The core of this enhancement lies in a next-generation hybrid language model approach. This innovative AI architecture is designed to intelligently route queries between Zoom’s proprietary Small Language Models (SLMs), which are optimized for low latency and specific tasks, and a fine-tuned Large Language Model (LLM) for more complex reasoning. This federated architecture ensures that the most suitable AI model is selected for each task, balancing speed, quality, and cost efficiency.
A key component of this new framework is Zoom’s introduction of a 49-billion-parameter LLM. This powerful model is based on NVIDIA Nemotron and was developed using NVIDIA NeMo tools, specifically engineered to achieve an optimal balance of speed, cost, and accuracy in AI operations. This allows enterprise customers and government organizations to benefit from both open and closed model innovations, leading to greater cost efficiency, accelerated AI workflows, and deeper reasoning capabilities within AI Companion 3.0.
According to X.D. Huang, Chief Technology Officer at Zoom, “With the help of NVIDIA Nemotron open technologies, we’re accelerating the development of our enterprise RAG capabilities, allowing AI Companion to work seamlessly with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Slack, Salesforce and ServiceNow.”
Kari Briski, Vice President of Generative AI Software at NVIDIA, emphasized the benefits for enterprises: “The integration of NVIDIA Nemotron into Zoom AI Companion allows enterprises like NVIDIA to experience a private, powerful, and personalized work environment for enhanced productivity. Our collaboration with Zoom to bring smart and efficient AI reasoning to customers is just beginning.”

The collaboration also lays the groundwork for future AI deployments, enabling Zoom to extend its AI capabilities into highly regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and government, where data privacy and security are paramount. Zoom plans to leverage NVIDIA Nemotron reasoning models to enhance decision-making and manage multistep tasks across various communication channels, including meetings, chat, and documents. This will empower AI Companion to reason more deeply, automate workflows, and provide intelligent assistance throughout the enterprise, all while adhering to a responsible AI foundation.
