TLDR: Zip, a leading agentic procurement orchestration platform, is celebrating its fifth anniversary by opening expanded offices in San Francisco and New York. This expansion accommodates rapid workforce growth and unprecedented enterprise adoption, with the company doubling its employee count in the past year and processing over $200 billion in purchasing requests.
SAN FRANCISCO – Zip, the world’s foremost agentic procurement orchestration platform, has announced the expansion of its offices in San Francisco and New York, marking its fifth anniversary. This strategic move is a direct response to the company’s explosive growth, which has seen its workforce double from 250 to over 500 employees in the last year alone. The company has also secured Global 2000 customers across diverse industries, demonstrating significant enterprise adoption.
Five years ago, Zip’s founders embarked on a mission to revolutionize procurement, a sector often overlooked in technological innovation. While many focused on trending markets, Zip honed in on the critical, yet unglamorous, process of how companies acquire necessary goods and services. This foresight proved prescient as global events like supply chain disruptions, inflation, and tariffs elevated procurement to a C-suite priority.
“Over the past five years, we’ve built something remarkable – a product so sticky that we’ve maintained 100% retention across our strategic enterprise customers,” stated Rujul Zaparde, Co-founder and CEO of Zip. He added, “The fact that Fortune 500 companies across financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, defense, and retail are choosing a five-year-old company over established vendors speaks to how fundamentally we’ve reimagined procurement.”
Zip has processed over $200 billion in total purchasing request volume since its inception, with annual payments soaring from $5 billion to $15 billion in just the last year. The company believes it has only scratched the surface of the global market opportunity.
The new San Francisco headquarters has doubled its office space to 75,000 square feet, accommodating over 200 employees, including talent from prestigious institutions like Stanford and MIT, and companies such as Meta, Airbnb, and Scale. This expansion reinforces Zip’s commitment to San Francisco as its global headquarters and contributes to the city’s downtown revitalization. In New York, Zip is moving beyond co-working spaces to establish a permanent Manhattan headquarters, strategically positioning itself closer to major financial services and media entities. The company also maintains a global presence with over 60 employees across EMEA, with continued expansion planned for London.
Lu Cheng, Zip Co-founder and CTO, highlighted the company’s innovative trajectory: “Five years ago, we introduced intake to the world. We scaled orchestration. Now, we’re shaping the agentic future with 50+ AI agents that are redefining what procurement is capable of.” He concluded, “The most exciting part? We’re just getting started.”
