ZenaTech Establishes New Quantum Computing Division to Enhance Drone and Defense Technologies

TLDR: ZenaTech, a business technology solutions provider, has announced the formation of a new Quantum Computing Division. This division will focus on leveraging quantum computing and AI to develop advanced capabilities for drones and defense systems, including cybersecurity, secure communications, enhanced navigation, and optimized drone fleet management. The team is expected to grow from 12 to 20 by year-end 2025.

Vancouver, British Columbia – ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) (FSE: 49Q) (BMV: ZENA), a prominent provider of business technology solutions specializing in AI drones, Drone as a Service (DaaS), Enterprise SaaS, and Quantum Computing, officially announced the establishment of its new Quantum Computing Division on August 19, 2025. This strategic move aims to accelerate the development of advanced drone and defense capabilities by harnessing the next generation of computing power.

The newly formed division will concentrate its research and development initiatives on solving highly complex challenges within modern defense and autonomous drone systems. Key areas of focus include enhancing cybersecurity, secure communications, and next-generation navigation, particularly for operations in GPS-denied environments. Additionally, the division will work on massive-scale data processing and AI drone fleet optimization for various Inspection, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) defense applications.

Shaun Passley, Ph.D., CEO of ZenaTech, emphasized the significance of this investment, stating, “Establishing a Quantum Computing Division is a strategic investment in our future. By advancing cybersecurity, secure communications, next-generation navigation, and massive-scale data processing, we are preparing our drone platforms for the challenges of tomorrow and contributing to America’s global defense leadership.”

Quantum computing, an emerging field, utilizes the unique principles of quantum mechanics to tackle problems that are beyond the scope of even the most powerful classical computers. This technology enables the processing of immensely complex mathematical problems and vast datasets at significantly faster speeds. For ZenaTech, this translates into the ability to analyze large and intricate drone data more rapidly and accurately, leading to improved weather predictions and enhanced forecasting of extreme events.

Two existing Quantum R&D projects will be further developed under this new division. The ‘Sky Traffic’ project is dedicated to optimizing traffic flows and supporting public safety for government applications through the integration of AI-enabled drones and quantum computing. The ‘Clear Sky’ project aims to improve localized weather forecasts and extreme weather predictions, thereby helping to save lives and reduce economic losses, by leveraging AI drone swarms and quantum computing.
