Wavelo Drives AI Advancement in Telecoms with Real-time Data at DTW Ignite 2025

TLDR: At DTW Ignite 2025 in Copenhagen, Wavelo showcased its pivotal role in accelerating AI adoption within the telecommunications sector. The company emphasized how its cutting-edge event-driven platform provides the real-time data essential for CSPs to successfully implement AI across various functions, from customer experience and churn prediction to fraud detection and network optimization.

Copenhagen, Denmark – Following the successful conclusion of DTW Ignite 2025, Wavelo emerged as a key enabler for Communication Service Providers (CSPs) looking to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence. The company highlighted its innovative approach to leveraging real-time data, crucial for the effective deployment of AI initiatives across the telecom landscape.

Paul McCluskey, Head of Marketing at Wavelo, provided insights into the current state of AI adoption among CSPs. He noted that nearly every CSP has publicly declared intentions to use AI for productivity gains, cost reduction, and revenue growth, with approximately 90% having already commenced their AI journey, half of which are in pilot phases. McCluskey detailed several impactful AI use cases observed in the industry:

Customer Experience & Contact Center Automation: AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants are providing 24/7 support, with examples like Vodafone’s TOBi handling 70% of customer queries. Leading US carriers such as AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon are also integrating AI into their support workflows.

Churn Prediction & Reduction: AI is being used to predict customer churn, with Verizon utilizing Generative AI to anticipate reasons for roughly 80% of incoming calls, thereby linking customers to the appropriate agents and aiming to prevent 100,000 cancellations. T-Mobile’s partnership with OpenAI (IntentCX) further exemplifies efficient issue routing and churn prediction.

Fraud Detection & Security: Machine learning models are proving highly effective in real-time anomaly detection, identifying threats like SIM swaps, subscription fraud, and scammers with detection accuracy around 90%.

Marketing & Sales Optimization: AI-driven customer segmentation and personalized offers are enhancing sales conversion rates and facilitating dynamic pricing strategies.

Network Optimization/Self-Healing: AI analyzes telemetry and performance data to predict hardware failures, enabling proactive repairs and reducing downtime. Verizon, for instance, has reported a 30% drop in failures and a 25% reduction in costs due to AI. AI also aids in traffic forecasting, dynamic routing to prevent congestion, automated detection and resolution of network issues, and supports real-time decisions at the edge for managing network slices.

Wavelo’s core contribution lies in its cutting-edge event-driven platform, which provides the essential real-time data streams necessary for these AI applications. McCluskey emphasized that the demand for real-time data will only escalate as more AI applications are deployed. Wavelo has been actively testing AI-based tools to facilitate rapid integration for customers transitioning to AI-driven operations. This approach empowers CSPs to make informed decisions about retiring legacy applications based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), rather than being forced by new data requirements, thus maintaining control and keeping pace with advancements like Agentic AI.

Beyond core BSS/OSS functions, Wavelo also showcased its Catalyst project on ‘Autonomous and Sustainable IoT Ecosystems – The Internet of Moving Things.’ This initiative addresses the challenges of managing millions of connected autonomous devices, demonstrating Wavelo’s solution for real-time orchestration and seamless connectivity, aiming for sustainable optimization.

Andy Youé, Vice President of Sales at Wavelo, further elaborated on the importance of modern, event-driven architectures for supporting real-time data needs and overcoming challenges associated with implementing AI projects in legacy systems. He highlighted how such architectures reduce migration risks by enabling parallel operation of legacy and modern systems, ensuring business continuity without outages during transitions.
