Volca Raises $5.5 Million Seed to Revolutionize Home Services with AI-Powered Referrals

TLDR: Volca, a New York City-based startup, has successfully secured $5.5 million in seed funding to advance its AI-powered platform for the home services industry. The investment, led by Pathlight Ventures, will enable Volca to automate growth, streamline operations, and enhance profitability for contractors through intelligent referral marketing and front-office automation.

Volca, an innovative startup based in New York City, has announced the successful closure of a $5.5 million seed funding round. This significant investment is set to accelerate the development and deployment of its artificial intelligence-powered platform, designed to transform the home services sector. The funding round was spearheaded by Pathlight Ventures, with notable participation from MetaProp, GTMFund, and Recall Capital. Additionally, a consortium of prominent founders and executives from leading tech companies such as Ramp, Gusto, Scale AI, Plaid, Figma, and Stripe also contributed to the round.

Volca’s core offering is an AI-driven, SMS-based referral system that aims to automate and optimize growth for contractors and service professionals, including plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians. The platform integrates seamlessly with existing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools like ServiceTitan, allowing businesses to run fully automated referral programs from initiation to completion. This includes personalized message delivery, lead tracking, job matching, and secure payment processing for successful referrals, all managed via text messages.

According to Brendan Kazanjian, Co-founder and CEO of Volca, ‘The trades power our economy. However, most home services operators are drowning in a sea of manual work that prevents them from scaling their businesses efficiently. We want to change that.’ He emphasized Volca’s mission to provide valuable time and resources back to its customers, enabling them to focus on core business and personal life by leveraging AI in an underserved market.

The home services market is a robust and expanding sector, with homeowner spending on maintenance and improvement projects projected to reach $526 billion by the first quarter of 2026. Volca aims to capitalize on this growth by transforming traditional, often manual, workflows into efficient, revenue-generating engines. Mahdi Raza, Co-founder at Pathlight Ventures, commented on the investment, stating, ‘Volca isn’t just streamlining operations — it’s building a heat-seeking missile revenue engine for home services.’

The platform has already demonstrated significant impact, with Volca reporting that it has generated millions in homeowner referral pipeline for its clients. Some customers have experienced substantial gains, with one, Nathan Shafer of Shafer Heating and Cooling, quoted as saying, ‘Since we started using Volca four months ago, we’ve made over $160K in new sales through referral automations. It’s been a game-changer.’

Looking ahead, Volca’s long-term vision extends beyond referral automation. The company plans to develop a full-stack AI platform that will modernize various front-office functions for home services businesses. This includes intelligent lead generation tools, advanced communication systems, and post-sale automations designed to drive customer reviews, upsells, and repeat business. To support its ambitious product roadmap and enhance customer support, Volca is actively recruiting for engineering, product, and customer success roles in New York City.
