TLDR: Vitality has partnered with Google to launch ‘Vitality AI’, an innovative platform leveraging Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Gemini models. This initiative aims to revolutionize health and life insurance by providing personalized health and lifestyle insights to customers, focusing on preventative care to reduce illness and extend healthy years. The platform will analyze extensive health data to offer tailored recommendations through the Vitality app.
In a significant move set to transform the health and life insurance sectors, Vitality has announced a strategic global partnership with Google to introduce ‘Vitality AI’. This groundbreaking platform, unveiled at an event in London on November 4, 2025, integrates Google Cloud’s advanced artificial intelligence and data analytics capabilities, including its powerful Vertex AI platform and Gemini models, with Vitality’s extensive health and lifestyle datasets.
The core objective of Vitality AI is to provide hyper-relevant and personalized health recommendations to customers, shifting the industry’s focus from reactive illness treatment to proactive preventative care. The platform will analyze a vast array of de-identified data, encompassing over 2,800 dimensions such as lifestyle behaviors, health data, clinical risk factors, and responses to incentives designed to promote healthy habits. This deep analysis will enable the generation of tailored, actionable insights aimed at reducing illness and extending healthy years for individuals.
Customers will receive these personalized recommendations through the Vitality app. These insights will cover various aspects of well-being, including physical activity, sleep routines, preventive screenings, and wellness coaching. Prior to the advent of advanced AI models like Gemini, delivering such a high level of personalized health advice at scale was a significant challenge, often resulting in generic and less effective recommendations.
Adrian Gore, founder and group CEO of Discovery Group (Vitality’s parent company), emphasized the transformative potential of this collaboration. He stated, “Despite the clear benefits of preventative care, health systems and the insurance market as a whole remain focused on treating illness when it happens. Our partnership with Google transforms this. By bringing together Google’s technology and AI capabilities, and our unique data sets and understanding of behavior change, we will have a never-before-seen capability and understanding of a person’s health.”
The partnership also highlights the importance of scale, with Vitality noting that widespread health insights can enhance customer engagement, reduce operational costs, and improve loss ratios. This aligns with findings from VitalityHealth’s earlier Clams Insight Report, which indicated that 87% of health insurance customers desire support from their insurers to maintain healthier lifestyles beyond just making a claim.
Maureen Costello, Google Cloud UK, Ireland, and sub-Saharan Africa vice-president, added, “By integrating Google Cloud’s advanced AI capabilities, including Gemini models, with Vitality’s data and understanding of driving healthier habits, this partnership poses an exciting opportunity to deliver hyper-relevant healthcare at scale.”

The Vitality AI platform is slated for launch in the UK and South Africa by summer 2026, with subsequent plans for expansion into other Vitality partner markets and the U.S. The company anticipates reaching 13 million customers globally in the years following its initial rollout. The collaboration further includes enhanced integration with Google’s Health Connect service for secure sharing of well-being data across various apps and connected devices, building on a decade-long cooperation between Vitality and Fitbit. Google will also act as a strategic go-to-market partner to support the platform’s expansion into new territories.
