Virtusa’s Jatayu Ideathon 2025 Culminates, Spotlighting India’s Generative AI Prowess

TLDR: Virtusa successfully concluded its fourth annual Jatayu Ideathon, an event that brought together over 11,600 students from 75 engineering colleges across India to innovate with Generative AI. The ideathon focused on solving 14 real-world problems in sectors like banking, healthcare, telecom, and education, with winning teams receiving job offers and cash prizes.

Mumbai / Bengaluru, India – October 16, 2025 – Virtusa Corporation, a global leader in digital strategy, engineering, and IT services, has successfully concluded the fourth season of its flagship Jatayu Ideathon Program. The 2025 edition specifically centered on the transformative potential of Generative AI (GenAI), challenging students to apply this cutting-edge technology to 14 real-world problem statements across diverse domains, including banking, healthcare & life sciences, telecom, and education. Seven of Virtusa’s business units actively supported the initiative by crafting these industry-relevant challenges.

The ideathon witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 11,600 students from 75 leading engineering colleges nationwide forming more than 2,300 teams. The competition was structured in three rigorous rounds, culminating in a Grand Finale where finalist teams presented their innovative ideas and demonstrated industry-ready prototypes.

Notable winners emerged from various tracks. In the education sector, AP Shah Institute of Technology secured the top spot with their solution for an AI quiz. Sreenidhi Institute of Technology and Science claimed the second position for their project on leveraging GenAI for Sybase to Oracle Migration. Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College earned the third position for their innovative approach to Edge AI.

Beyond recognition, the winning teams were awarded full-time employment offers at Virtusa, along with attractive cash prizes. Runner-up teams also received cash prizes, underscoring Virtusa’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent. Throughout the competition, Virtusa experts provided invaluable mentorship, guiding students in refining their concepts into practical, impactful solutions.
