Uttar Pradesh Implements High-Tech Security, AI for Fair RO/ARO Exam on July 27

TLDR: The Uttar Pradesh government is deploying a comprehensive, technology-driven security strategy, including artificial intelligence and social media monitoring, for the upcoming Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) examination on July 27, 2025. This robust plan, involving biometric authentication, extensive CCTV surveillance, and stringent question paper protocols, aims to ensure transparency and prevent malpractice for over 10.76 lakh candidates across 2,382 centers in 75 districts, following a previous paper leak incident.

The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled an extensive and technologically advanced security framework to guarantee the integrity and transparency of the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) examination, scheduled for July 27, 2025. This proactive approach comes in the wake of a previous paper leak incident on February 11, 2024, which led to the cancellation of the exam, underscoring the state’s commitment to a fair recruitment process.

The examination, which will see over 10.76 lakh candidates vying for positions, is set to be conducted in a single shift from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM across 2,382 centers spanning all 75 districts of the state. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is instrumental in implementing these stringent measures.

At the heart of the new security protocol is the integration of advanced technology. Exam monitoring will be significantly bolstered by the use of artificial intelligence (AI), complemented by live CCTV surveillance across center, district, and commission levels. A dedicated social media monitoring cell has also been established to promptly track and address any rumors, leaks, or suspicious online activities. This multi-pronged digital surveillance aims to eliminate any risk of malpractice or paper leaks.

Physical security measures are equally rigorous. Entry into examination centers will necessitate biometric authentication, including iris scanning, and dual-layer frisking conducted jointly by the police and the implementing agency. Candidate identification and center allocation processes have been fully digitized to enhance transparency and mitigate potential biases. Furthermore, exam centers have been assigned through a computer-generated randomization process, and e-admit cards are linked to an eight-step verification system under the One Time Registration process.

Confidentiality of question papers is a top priority. Two separate sets of question papers have been prepared by different printers. Just 45 minutes before the exam commences, a computer-based randomization process will determine which set is to be used. Each question paper will be available in eight jumbled series, each uniquely marked with a variable barcode. These papers will be securely stored in confidential trunk boxes, featuring triple-locking mechanisms and five-layer tamper-proof packaging.

To ensure rigorous supervision, each exam center will have a dedicated team comprising a sector magistrate, a static magistrate, a center administrator, two deputy center administrators, and trained invigilators. Invigilator duties will also be determined through computer randomization to ensure impartiality. Each District Magistrate will serve as the nodal officer, overseeing the entire examination process and empowered to take immediate action as needed. The state government emphasizes that these comprehensive measures are designed to uphold the integrity of the examination and provide a level playing field for all candidates.
